Hmm... as I have access to commercial stainless steel cleaning chemicals...

Any idea if 45 minutes at 175F would hurt a gun barrel?

175 degrees isn't hot enough to have any effect on the metalurgy of the barrel. That's well below sea level boiling temperature for water, and you're certainly not going to hurt the barrel at boiling temperature.
