I've got a Ruger 4" GP100 and am looking for holster recommendations. I will be using this for double-action trigger pull work at the range with drills, etc. and working on revolver reloads. No requirement for EDC so just belt or paddle mount is fine. I am open to kydex or leather but want to keep the cost down so kydex will probably be the best option.

I'd also like some opinions on speed loaders for both .38 and .357 as well as carriers for the speed loaders. I am not well versed on carriers so gain looking at all options.

I have a S&W Model 10-6 and have used both HKS and Safariland Comp2 loaders for it. Just don't have any carriers for those speed loaders. I have played with the Comp3s and they are awesome compared to the HKS.

I like Speed strips, rather than speed loaders. The speed loader is faster, but bulkier. Speed loaders work well for a duty belt, but nobody carries revolvers on a duty belt any more, and they work well for competitors (though most use moon clips). Speed loaders are hands-down faster under fire than a speed strip, as the speed loader puts six rounds in the revolver while the speed loader does two at a time (like a dump pouch).

Speed loaders in a pocket are more likely to end up releasing rounds, or to get bumped or crushed, and they're bulkier. They get more pocket lint and crud in them and on the cartridges, and depending on which kind you have, do involve fine motor skills when inserting and twisting...and I've seen a few times when it seemed the cartridges were locked in and weren't.

Mernickle makes some robust, sturdy holsters that would work well for a GP100 carry.

My GP 100 mostly rides in a Bianchi Model 5 Black Widow. Pretty secure with easy draw. Priced right, too. I carry an MTM 12 round Ammo Wallet in my back pocket and a speed strip in a belt pouch. if I have pockets big enough, I dispense with the Speed Strip and use a Safariland speed loader. Which I find is quicker to use the HKS. I also use the Elite Survival Systems 12 round belt mount ammo pouch.

HKS # 586-A has always been a flawless performer in my S&W wheelguns and is the same model you would need. I also like the Bianchi speed strips but they are a little slower...more concealable but slower. Not much hep on the holster...

I've only used chest rigs for my GP100s; not exactly the most inconspicuous way to carry but it works very well in keeping me balanced when out in the wilds. The Gunfighters, Inc Kenai is my rig of choice these days.

I tend to prefer carrying Bianchi speed strips as well, but I admit that I'm not fast at all with them. Though I've got a few HKSs, it's a very nice Comp II that I do like as a relatively small, 'traditional' speed loader. Someday I'll need to order in a few more of the Safariland units for myself...

I've got a Kramer paddle for my GP 100. Seems to keep the gun in tight. I don't carry it that often, I usually have my 239 with me, but when I do i am always amazes at how comfortable it is.

It's a leather ("Safarilaminate", actually)/ kydex hybrid, suede lined, paddle or belt loop, adjustable cant, as well as being inexpensive and Safariland quality!

I use the HKS586 speed loaders with my GP100.
For a holster, I use a Galco FLETCH Hide Ride belt holster.

For Steel Challenge, the same Mernickle rig with Five Star 8 shot speed loaders.

Does anyone know if loading blocks (other than the big Safariland 14) will fit the Comp II speed loaders and clear the center post? It looks like the 5-star is relieved in the center, but not sure.
