I was given Carte Blanc by a customer to get creative with the slide for his X-5.

I really like the serrations on the top of the slide, however, I do not like what you did on the sides. Just my opinion...

SCHWEEET!! I like the gripper serations, though I think a little closer together and a few more would be a bit more appealing to me. All in all me likie.
Perhaps artistic continuity wise, making the top line and the side serations closer in style would draw the whole look together better, but seperatly they are nice. P22, P220 (JJ), P226 (KA), P228 (KH), SP2022 (30Apr08), P232 (AF) |

Nice - subtle and more minimalist is definitely the way to go. I would've been tempted to go with serrations on just that portion of the slide ahead of the ejection port to evoke the 210, but the full length job reminds me of a lot of classic custom 1911s I've seen.

I think it looks pretty cool, but I would have to see it put together before I can make a final decision.

Same here. The top does look very good. Rob I am an American Airman: Wingman, Leader, Warrior. I will never leave an Airman behind, I will never falter, and I will not fail. From The Airman's Creed |

I love the top, however, I would be very angry about the sides.
It looks like you photo-shopped the serations, I hope you really didn't do that to this pistol. ___________________________________________________________________ Prayer of The Citadel Give me a boy, Oh God, who is willing to learn the true value of honor, the necessity of perseverance and loyalty, and the meaningfulness of devotion to God and country. Into this ingot of a man I shall temper self-respect and self-discipline, fear of God and respect for mankind, appreciation of freedom and awareness of what sacrifices must be made to preserve freedom, and above all an insatiable desire for truth and honesty. The grooves on the top are pretty conventional, but the gripping ridge treatment is definitely unique. As long as they provide enough purchase for proper manual operation of the slide, I'd say the customer got his/her money's worth. Front ridges don't do anything for me, but they do add to the effect.
FWIW, because "carte" is a feminine noun, it's carte blanche. “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy |
