I sent an email to Sig about the availability of the subcompact, and received a response today.

Couldn't agree more! I've yet to hold one and the saleman I talked to at one of the gun shops replied, "What's a Sig P250?" I pointed to the empty rotating Sig display case many people here have talked about and said, "It's the new modular handgun from Sig and will likely be in that display case over there." [sigh]

Tried the P250 side by side w the HK P2000 and P30 w LEM, liked the P250 better.

Bought two (2) of 'em!

Both came w the wrong manuals (for 220/226/229, etc) though.

Emailed SIG, they are sending the correct ones. Said they didn't have any electronic copies, but I found one on the German site at:

Thanks for posting the link to the manual. One thing I found when searching for the answer to the mag capacity mystery is the US and Eurpoean version are not the same. The European ver does in fact have a 15 rounds mag but the US ver is 16 rounds... explained here: http://www.downrange.tv/artman2/publish/droppedshot/91.shtml "the slight tweaking of frame width to accomodate the upcoming .45 ACP magazine lead to a one-round pick-up for the nine...now 16 + 1."

The Euro and US versions are slightly different, but the manual is close enough (and better than none) until I get the correct hardcopies in the snail mail.

I finally got to hold a 250 today.
I have to say it was nicer looking than a lot of the photos show it to be...fit my hand very nicely, too. The hammer is very strange looking, I guess I never noticed it from the pics I've seen posted here.
It seems very well made. To me, the grip is very comfortable.
The trigger reset is a tad long, though. I am wondering if I could get used to it.

One of the things that still amazes me, is, no matter who I talk to, or what gun shop I go to, no one seems to know the answer as to whether SIG is going to supply gun shops with different sized grips, slides..etc.. so that potential buyers can try them first...

Everyone I talk to says the same thing, "Gee..I really don't know.."
Or: "I haven't heard anything.."
Confused

To me, it just seems really strange the way this thing is being marketed.

RiSigowner, I know what you mean. My local shop wasn't even aware that the "guts" of the thing is meant to come out. Only one person there had any idea that there should be accessory grip sizes available. They don't have any kind of display or any knowledge of how to order accessory grip frames. As far as they're concerned, they'll just stock the standard pistol and that's it. Strange. It's an extremely high-volume firearms dealer, too. http://ktp.com/right.php/pid/63
I thought this thing would be heavily pushed by Sigarms, so it's confusing. They do have plenty of Nitron's and Two-tones available. No shortage of them. I find myself drawn to the pistol, but not sure where or if I really "need" it. I worry that I would get it, not like that long pull and reset, and sell it.

It appears the Sig salesman is not doing his due diligence in demonstrating and training the dealer on the feature/functionality of the P250.

Just a guess...

That pretty much sums it up for me as well.

It's a neat idea, interchangeable grips(frames)etc...but I'll be damned if anyone who supposed to know about this, actually knows anything about it.
I talked to a SIG dealer here, not long ago...he knew little about the pistols, grip options, or anything.
I was actually telling him more about the 250 than what he already knew.
And I got his name from the SIG Sauer site!

If I don't see something take place after the SHOT show in regard to marketing and/or getting questions I ask, answered...I think I'll likely just pass...and move on.

I thought that's what that rotating Sig P250 display case was supposed to be for--showing/letting the customer try the different configurations.

I haven't made it back to the gun store I mentioned a few days ago that had the display case but not a clue about the P250. I'm curious if they cared to do some research on something they should be selling soon.

In my area, I do not think that a lack of information or communication from SIG is the problem. Product knowledge is apparently not a job requirement to work in most our area gun stores. One would think if your livelihood depended on firearms sales you would take the initiative to educate yourself. Roll Eyes

Member 'doughnut' mentions the P250 display in this thread.
quote:
I visited my local shop today and they had a display, reportedly from Sig, that had a 250c frame in small, medium, and large. The display was very simple with the frames hinged so you could somewhat pick them up and get a feel for the frames. I must say the small feels best to me. My dealer advised that as of this time they have no ETA on frames and the other accessories to change the pistol up.

Does any have a fair estimate of the cost and parts needed for the 9mm to 40 S&W conversion?

Do you need a new barrel, side and or magazines?

Barrel $190 ?
Mags $35 ?
Slide ??$

V/R

I heard it was $400 for the conversion and $50 for a different grip.

Local dealer said a complete slide/bbl top was $450, grip frames $50, mags $40 each. Have not confirmed that, but it's probably close.

So it's another $130 to change size ($50 + $80), $530 to change caliber ($450 + $80), $580 to change caliber and size ($450 + $80 + $50).

MSRP for P250 is $700, I paid $575, so those actual parts prices may be lower too?

Not cheap changes. May make some sense for somebody who has to license/register their handgun and wants to change size and/or caliber w/o the hassle of a new license/registration (for now anyway).

Would allow an agent/agency to change calibers/sizes w/o changing guns. A subtle difference which may/may not be significant.

Handled one for the first time and REALLY liked it!

My local gun store had the three feame display and also took it all apart for me and explained how it went into the different sized grips. Then he looked up the prices for a conversion to another caliber---it seems like it was over $400, so i turned off my ears--might as well get another in a different caliber for that price.
I really liked the trigger.

Maybe someone has already posted prices, but sportingarms.com in the Dallas area is posting P250 in 45acp in both 4.7" and 3.9" barrels for $614 and the two tones for $659.

Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace and farewell.
Lest we forget.
