Do we know the cost of:

A. Barrels and slides
B. Frames

This will determine whether or not I buy this gun. If a new barrel/slide setup is $400, I'll just buy another gun.

So I decided to buy a 250... What are my thoughts? First, it looks great and is of the highest quality, fit and finish. It is a Sig... I like how it feels, the balance is great, and it points naturally. It is a simple design. Simple ideas tend to be the best ones. After first inspection, not overly impressed, but still very interested. Setting the excellent modular ability of the pistol aside, it is still a great design.

Ok - so how does it shoot? I have never, ever been more impressed with a semi-auto - period. I like shooting my Glocks and the rest of my Sigs, but the 250 is unlike any semi-auto I have ever shot before. It reminded me of a very smooth revolver, but much more controlable and accurate. I shot 2-3 inch groups at 21 feet averaging one shot every second or so. That to me, is great accuracy. What I was most impressed with was how easy it was to get back on target. Let me draw a comparison... My 228 in double action is fairly difficult to fire accurately and requires quite a bit of added concentration to make sure the first round isn't a flyer. The 250's trigger is so smooth and light that it hardly moves around making it very easy to shoot. I was concerned that the long reset was going to make tight grouping near impossible during speedier shooting. Not a concern at all. It was truly an easy pistol to shoot.

Reliability? Durability? Can't answer beyond a shadow of a doubt - obviously... I did run 150 rounds of Remington green box through it without even the slightest hiccup. It will serve well - at the very least, it gets my approval.

Too new to holster, right? No - it isn't. I am a big fan of Blackhawk Serpa holsters - no luck there as of yet. I did find that the HK 45 holsters in leather fit perfectly. I picked up a Tagua open top for about $35 that fits like a glove. That will work quite well.

Being a modular pistol... Is it a huge factor in deciding to purchase for a civilian? Probably not, but it is cool none the less. I am looking forward to changing out the frame for a full size. My hands are of average size, but do feel a bit cramped into the grip of the compact (same issue as my G19). For Law Enforcement - is it a revolutionary idea? Maybe not, but it will save money. That is a pretty big factor when chosing a pistol, isn't it? Being able to switch calibers also makes a lot of sense for both the civilian and LEO. Practice at the range with 9mm and carry .45 in the same package. Makes a lot of sense to me... Will I do it? Big maybe, but nice to know that I could.

Price issues? Having a great dealer means a lot to those of us who shoot regularly. When I stated that I was kind of turned off by the fact that I only got one mag, my dealer added another magazine for free. So I walked out the door with a brand new Nitron 250 with two mags for $599 plus tax. If you compare prices with a Glock 19, two mags, and meprolights installed, you are right at $600, give or take...

So the verdict... I am very pleased with my new 250 and look forward to many memorable range sessions with it. My dealer should put one of these on the rental rack, it really sells itself after shooting. It would be hard not to buy after running a 100 rounds or so through it. I will feel safe carrying it and trust that when that smooth trigger is pulled, it will always go bang.

Sig - you built a great pistol. Thought I'd add a pic...

SigRobGA I'm glad to hear you like your P250.

I'll freely admit I was turned off when I heard of the DAO trigger and no short reset. However, I decided to take a chance and actually purchase a P250 anyway mostly because I was impressed by the modularity of the design.

After shooting only 200 rounds(no problems at all and ejection was perfect) of American Eagle FMJ through it I am sold! I have been shooting some of my best groups ever out to even 25 yards. It's also alot easier to shoot quickly than I though it would be. I am very impressed with the P250. I was wrong about it initially.

I think everyone should shoot this pistol before passing judgement on the trigger. If Sig ever makes a SRT for this model it will only be icing on the proverbial cake.

SigRobGA & dcowboyscr ...... you were just added to the list of "trigger ain't an issue" reports. My resolve to 'wait-wait-wait' until purchasing is still strong; however, you guys put a ding in my armor! Wink

My only issue so far, and a minor one at that, is the magazine capacity. I was told the 16 round mags had 2 lines on the side. Mine do but only indicate 15 rounds and I can't for the life of me squeeze in a 16th round. It's not a big deal to me except that I'd like to achieve the advertised magazine capacity.

Of my 4 mags, I can get the 16th in all of them. It takes some effort but, more importantly, it just doesn't "feel" right - sort of like how you can cheat and get an 11th round in the HK45 mags.

My policy is that these are 15 round mags.

Recently I handled the new P250 at a local gun store. I have been anxiously anticipating this new arrival and was surprised that they had a couple in stock. I was so disappointed when they handed it to me. I felt like a cheap plastic toy. At $600 this will be a non-seller IMNSHO. The only good thing I could say about it was it had a fantastic double action trigger pull. But it stops there. The gun actually feels hollow. This was the same feeling I had when the SIG Mosquito was handed to me. You tap the sides and it sounds empty as if you could crush it with some serious effort. If there was a need for a pistol in this calibre and size I would go for a P229 or compact Glock. For kicks I compared it to a SIG Pro and felt I would go for it instead.

I will always own and carry SIGS. It's a good thing they are made to last because by the looks of their recent offerings they are going to have to.

I'm impressed by how absolutely divergent the opinion of this gun is.

Definitely gives credence to "opinions are like assholes...."

Some people think it feels cheap and others robust. Not having handled one myself, i don't know, but it's still impressive that people can have such a wildly different opinion about how this gun feels in the hand.

And as regards the Mosquito, i think it feels far more solid than a P22. It's not Buckmark, but it's not a non-solid feeling gun. Feels as robust as a Glock to me (even though i know that's not the case).

Interesting.

Here's mine...

This is the target from my first 150 rounds(Remington green box) that it is sitting on.

Oat-

I live in the cinti area if you want to try my 250, drop me a note. I usually shoot on Wed. nights in NKY. I'll have my X5 there too...you probably shouldn't shoot them back to back :-) But, you can if you want.

I may very well take you up on that offer, but i'm out of town until the 2nd week of January. well, i suppose i'll be back for a short time the 1st week, but should be packing on Wed instead of shooting. Wink

I'll probably be in touch either way, though!

I agree. I haven't seen this much "love it" or "hate it" since the Glocks first came out. I originally felt the P250 looked cheap but I think that's just because I was spoiled by shooting Classic Sigs for the past 7 years or so.

Upon further review, and having actually bought/shot a P250, I reverse my opionion considerably. The P250- feels very robust comparable to any other polymer framed gun. In fact I'd prefer their construction to my Glocks as far as the "cheapness factor" is concerned.

I took mine to the range today for the first time. All I can say is WOW! This pistol is great and I think SIG hit a home run with the P250. I'll post a range report in the next day or two.

My store had one and I went to buy it but as soon as I picked it up, I was diasppointed and walked out empty handed. I feel just like SRA (about the Misquito, too).

Hello everyone and a very Happy Christmas to you all.

I own a P229 in .40 and absolutely love it. I'm fairly new to guns but I have a concealed permit and am now looking for a smaller gun that I can carry concealed when wearing a suit. I like semi auto's ands would prefer a semi before a J frame, for example.

I was thinking about the new P250 in Compact 9mm as it will also allow me to buy (in the future) a .45 rig to go with the 9mm and maybe even a full size rig to go with the .45. Basically, I like the idea of having all these options. I like the idea of having a 9mm for the additional purpose of economically priced practice!

If the P250 doesn't work for me, do any of you have other suggestions as to what I can buy to take care of my concealed needs when wearing a suit? Apologies if there's another thread on this subject and if so, could someone please point me to it. I have to say that I love and trust my P229 so, I'm very keen to explore Sigs before any other brands but, I'm not glued to the hip with Sig if there's(if you'll excuse the pun!).

Please be safe everyone!

Utahguy I'd look at either the mid sized Glocks(19,23,32) or Subcompact Glocks(26,27,33) or maybe the HK P2000 SK.

I believe only one version of the P250 is currently available, and anything else is just speculation at the moment.
There were some good photos comparing the 250 with a Glock posted not long ago, but I can't seem to find them at the moment.

My dealer had a new SIG price list that showed other barrel assemblies (slide, barrel, etc.) were priced at about $425 and other 'grips' at something like $40-45.

I'd prefer a DA version and that 'may' also be in the works.
