So, at least we know you'll read Guns & Ammo. There is a great deal of miscommunication about the P250 resulting from conflicting information. I will clear some of it up here but some questions will remain for later.

First, we anticipate releasing the P250 Compact in 9mm (same version tested in the G&S story) sometime in September. This was originally supposed to start to ship in August but is being pushed back due to some final changes and vendor parts delivery timelines. I won't explain further since that information would be somewhat confidential.

The trigger pull is going to be between 5.5 and 6.0 lbs. The 9.0 lbs reference on the J.P. Sauer & Sohn site is irrelevant in terms of the US market. There are some other scpes which I will update in this thread once I can confirm them. These will be the specs you need to look at when discussing the P250 and not those on the Sauer site.

The P250 as designed in Germany did not meet the typical desired specs for a gun to be successful on the US market. The design is excellent and extremely innovative but because of the need to have a .40S&W, .357SIG and a .45ACP option the design had certain limitations that are easy to work out but needed to be addressed by our engineers here in the US.

There are several changes to the pistol from the original German design and in preparing the .40/.357 versions we ended up having to make chages to the 9mm. This is most evident in the slide dimensions. We wanted the 9mm to have the same slide profile as the .40S&W/.357SIG version so that they'd use the same holster. Because our market is driven more by .40S&W (particularly in law enforcement) we made the changes. In Europe the caliber of choice is 9mm.

Since I cannot (read will not) address all your questions at this time due to the fact that final development is being completed, I will instead ask for volunteers....

Sometime in July I will hold a range report event here at SIGARMS. We will show you how the gun assembles and disassembles, what some of the plans are for the future, answer your questions (some issues may remain confidential but we will discuss as much as we can and as much as we trust you to keep confidential) and take you out to the range to testfire the gun and take pictures. We'd give everybody an opportunity to shoot the gun. This would allow the participants to post their comments collectively and focus on different features that impacted them the most.

If you are interested in participating please respond here and I'll keep a list and a "waiting list" in case the date selected conflicts with a shooter's schedule. GeeTen is automatically on this list - mostly because half the people here at SIG know him and the other half think he works here.

Please allow this range report event to serve as the official question and answer period for the P250. I hope you won't mind waiting a little while longer. Thanks. - ERHARDT

(trying to avoid "asking a question", so ...) I'm assuming, then, that this must be the "handgun that will set the market on its ears and rank in comparison to the 1911 and Glock 17 in history regarding significant handgun design", rumored here earlier this week ... (??)

Mr Erhardt, just want to compliment you, SigArms and SigForum. This rocks!! How many forums out there that can boast such representation by the manufacturer? One.

I am so glad that you and SigArms have these events - open for forum members!

Thanks again Mr. Erhardt. Once again you and SIGARMS steps foreward in the industry. Most shooters only wish that their gunmaker even reads their forum. SIGARMS not only reads our forum but is present and active here. And giving an invitation to test their newest pistol design. That is a total class act !!!

I will certainly test one of the 250s later through the LE test and evaluation program. Bill

Mr. Erhardt,

First off, hats-off and kudos to you and Sig for being so active in this forum and caring about the concerns and needs of your customers.

I would like to be included as a range tester. I'm local to the area and I also work evening shift so I could attend most any day-shift range test.

While I'm relatively new to Sig-ownership, I'm not new to shooting, nor am I new to reviewing. For an example, please see my recent review of a NIB Sig Navy NWS model. It was very well received here and on other gun-sites that I posted a similar report on.

I'm good with a camera and the written word. I'm a Materials Inspector for a local telecommunications company so I'm also somewhat maticulous in my observations of product.

Thank you,

M.

Thank you for making an official statement. Some of us have been very enthusiastic about this pistol and look forward to the final product.

Lastly, more pics would be greatly appreciated, and any information on a .40 release would be nice

Sadly, I cant attend your test shoot. I wish.

There are some SIG Arms Academy classes here in Clovis, NM the weekend of July 20, if someone sent a P250 out here with the instructor, I am sure Steve Aikens and I would be happy to provide you with a Range Report. Hint, Hint.... Wink

I can only imagine what type of "idol" contest we could come up with to be on Mr. Erhardt's list.....

I live in Vermont and would be more than happy to drive down to Exeter to be part of the shoot depending on the date of the shoot.
