Looking for opinions. I would like the new grip to be a bit rounder/fuller than factory but not by much.

Which? Rubber, alum or G10s?

I put Hogue rubber panel grips on my P228 and they seem to be just a touch thicker than the stock grips and provide a very nice feel. However... it's been said on the forum that the rubber grips can sometimes cause issues drawing your weapon because the grips can "snag" on clothing. I have no experience with this so I can't say for sure.

Im not a fan of rubbers either, as they tend to gather the outer garment and possibly expose the weapon in some way. The Hogue Alums look nice and I don't mind paying for them, I just want to be sure before I purchase. I also like a checkered dark wood but the ones I ordered for my 229 made it too thick for me.

Thanks.

G-10's grips are fantastic on my 239 in 9mm. However, they are not fuller or rounder than the stock grips. They do give you a better grip. I'm not a fan of making small pistols bigger by putting large grips on them. At that point you have to ask yourself what the point of the small pistol was.....

After my prgression of P239 grips;
Stock Sig wood, too thick,
Stock Sig plastic, just don't like them,
Houge rubber wrap arounds, felt OK, but too tacky for me,
CTC laser grips, grips felt great, but found I didn't need the laser,
I finally went all out and the Nill-Griffes.
Love 'em, and I'm no longer grip shopping for the P239..

There are pics of the progression in this thread.

From the description that you seem to be wanting, The Nills wood grips gave me that exact feel.
The wood grips on a single stack sig seem to work for me but not on the double stacks.

I can confirm that stock SIG wood grips are insanely thick. I found a DA/SA pair and they are thicker than my P220 with SIG wood grips on...

If a few people would send PACHMAYR a message, maybe they'd come out with an option for the P239...

Well after being told that I had mail in my mailbox from the sender I now have a set of very fine set of Blk Hogue alum checkers on my 239. I like them and will be keeping these. If I was buying new or had the choice I would still go with the G-10's over the alums but at the price that I got these I can't be anything but happy with them.
Thank You!! Mrmn50

Personally, I'm a wood grip guy, I have the SAS DAK model and though I refinished the color to get rid of that "turd-brown" (for lack of better words) color, now they have a reddish tint like 229 Elite grips. For me the wood is just the right size and shape!

Are the alums thicker or about the same as stock?

They are so close I'm gonna call them the same.
I just pulled one side and put a plastic against the alums and they match up at the bottom and at the web the alums are a little thinner but not but by a hair. I don't think the hand could tell the difference in them.

The only concerns or reservations I have in or about the alums are:
(a) they tend to get scratched easily..(if that matters)
(b) i've read where the screws on alums are hard to keep tight...(cure/Loc-tite)

I like the look and feel of the alums but prefer the G-10's over all.
I have two sets of Hogue 226 G-10's and have had a set of the alums for the 226's.
I've had Hogue G-10's in the 228/9 and they were great.

I really like my new Eagle rosewood checkered grips... they fit the pistol (and my hand) like a glove. Cost about $60

Hogue wrap around rubbers. IMO, there is not a finer grip made for the P239. However, I am a shooter who doesn't like a gun that shifts in the hand during a rapid fire string. So, I have rubber grips on any of my guns that have replaceable grips.

4 is now 5, P239-40, XDm-40, P229-40 Elite Stainless, S&W 67-1, and S&W 620
