How can New Frontier market a 12.5 inch barrel AR with a brace and a forward grip as an other? CT has banned AR weapons. It’s not a pistol-really-12” barrel.
It’s not a rifle but has ALL the evil features.
ATF says it’s ok to “shoulder” a brace- that puts it in SBR category. This state is really fubared. I can’t buy a 16 “ AR—banned since Newtown. I can buy any suppressor. The New Frontier lawyers found a loophole. This is crazy.

It has a rifled barrel. There are several companies that offer guns like this... ARs with short barrels, braces or pistol buffers, and vertical foregrips.



They take advantage of a gap in the federal definitions of "pistols" and "rifles". An AR (or other gun) that's over 26" in overall length but no stock is neither a pistol nor a rifle. It's just a "firearm".

No stock, and it's not designed to be fired from the shoulder, so it's not a rifle in the eyes of the federal law. It's not concealable due to its overall length, and it's not designed to be fired with one hand, so it's not a pistol in the eyes of the federal law.

Pistols can't have vertical foregrips. To do so would require registering it as an "Any Other Weapon" with accompanying NFA tax stamp.

Rifles can't have a barrel under 16". To do so would require registering it as a "Short Barreled Rifle" with accompanying NFA tax stamp.

But "Firearms" can have both short barrels and vertical foregrips, with no registration and NFA tax stamp needed.

However, state laws will vary.


This is also what allowed the recent wave of pistol-gripped or braced short-barreled shotguns like the Mossberg Shockwave or Remington Tac14 to be introduced. They're over 26", and therefore not a shotgun, pistol, SBS, or AOW... Just a "firearm".
