Who makes it and does anyone know of a Glock armorer or good gunsmith in western North Carolina who can do the job right?

Can't help you in NC but in my experience the Lone Wolf 3.5 connector is the best. I really like the positive reset that the LW provides. I've tried Scherer and several others but wound up putting LW connectors and NY1 springs on all my Glocks.

I don't know who makes the best, but I just put a Ghost in my G19 today (thanks Eric), and it took 5 minutes. If you can remove three pins (or two depending on model/age), you can do it. =)

I watched a few videos on how to strip them down a few years back, and it's so simple to strip them down, it's not even funny.

I would stick with the factory if you plan on using it for defense.

+1 on LSP552.

I've tried the Ghost and a couple others, but prefer to the factory OEM (-) connector. There is a guy that sells them on EBay for around $15 (I remember getting them for free back in the day, oh well).

Like 220ST says, it takes a punch and about 5 minutes of your time.

I bought one of each of the major sellers including OEM. I tried each in a G29 and a G19, well and recorded the trigger pull with my RCBS gauge. Well the Ghost was the best for me in the 29 amd the Lone Wolf in the 19.
Trigger pull weight varied some, was surprised how some felt "more mushy, spongy" than the others. Was not the same in either pistol so I asume the other parts made this happen.

Use a Glock connector, and you can easily do it yourself without a certified armorer.

I have a scherer in my g19. Also did the $.25 trigger job since everything was already out. Trigger doesn't feel as mushy now and breaks cleanly.

go to glockparts.com

There, you can get the GLOCK 3.5 (which is what I did) or choose from a selection of others. I installed it along with a Glockmeister competition trigger spring (a little stiffer than stock) for a firmer reset than is out of the box. This is a good combo for me and it lightens up the trigger pull just a tad.

Glockparts, BTW, has a very generous shipping fee and my gear has been always been shipped to me either the same day or the next; usually arriving in about 3-4 days total and all for about a $3.00 shipping fee....(colorado to alabama)..not bad!

Installation was way too easy to let anyone else do it for you. Really. There are a bunch of websites and threads with advice showing you how to take the GLOCK down. Having done it, I would say it would take you all of about 5 minutes tops, to replace the connecter and trigger spring if you didn't goof around. Longer for the first time through so you could study how it all fits together.

In fact, the only thing you need to entirely disassemble an entire GLOCK pistol is a blunt nosed punch (to push out the 3 pins) and a thumb. Heck, a ball-point pen would work. Complete disassembly would take you no more than about 10 minutes...even the first time through.

Glocks are fun this way. I hope you enjoy your project.

Factory 3.5# all the way. I'm a certified armorer and have been for over 10 years & have installed many. Unless something's changed, Glock won't sell them but you can find them easily enough if you look around online.

If you must do it, use the Glock part.

I've switched mine all back. I'm pretty firmly on the side now that they come from the factory "just fine". Quite a few people told me before I swapped to the 3.5lb connector that I'd switch it back and they were right. It was too light and didn't have a nice break at all.

In fact, I went to the 8lb connector on my G32 and like it even better. My police officer neighbor recommended this and let me try his G22. I really like the defined "break" point.

My mediocre accuracy hasn't changed a bit!

OEM Glock. Very easy to install yourself. In almost every thread like this, someone says not to use a 3 1/2# connector for a self defense gun. I do not agree, use what you shoot the best with. I have never seen a documented case where a OEM 3 1/2# connector (or any non-stock connector) has been a issue in a self defense situation.

Don't want to step on anyone's toes, but being a "certified Glock armorer" is not big deal. Glocks are extremely easy to work on the there is a wealth of information available on how to do so.

I always went with the Glock 3.5# connector. I would also do a $.25 trigger job using Mothers wheel polish.

Do those, clean the internals well and you'll smooth out the gun quite significantly. Big Grin

3.5 on both my 19 and 21. Much better trigger. Tried the NY trigger also, now that is a piece o crap. Love the 3.5 though. Good luck.

I've never seen a documented case where ANY connector has been an issue in a self-defense situation! Wink

But don't expect a 3-1/2 pound trigger pull. I think I get something in the 4-1/2 pound range with the Glock 3.5 connector and no other modifications.

Hey Steve... No problem!

Now addressing the original question. I gave the ghost ranger 4.5 connector a try and really liked it. No mushy feeling at all and it broke light and clean.

I called Glock a short while back to see why they had a 3.5 OEM that changed to 4.5. The rep told me that there was some miscommunication with the the weight conversion from Metric units to S.I. and all along the trigger pulls were 5.5lbs standard and 4.5 for the sport models. 5 = 5.5 and 3.5 = 4.5.

The connector was a hair too light for me and I went back to stock for CCW. But, I highly recommend the ranger, I almost feel that going with a Ghost 3.5 will yield that of a hair trigger pull and I personally wouldn't recommend it.
