Well he told me another story cause this one shows from 1989 according to https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...0601935/m/7320040262

You're showing pic of a 1995 P228 (# B251175). Confused

You don't have to tell me about Robert. I, and many others on here, are his biggest fans, when it comes to his works on SIGs. He's like a magician, turning crappy SIGs into competition worthy guns.

I missed that, definitely not mid-90s barrel font IMO.

Yup, no doubt about it.

I would like to see the JJ proof marks, not just the serial numbers.

Don't know why there is no serial number on the slide and I checked everywhere and no other markings on the slide or the barrel. Doesn't matter because it's a Beautiful gun and a Great shooter, even though it is a Frankenstein Sig P228. I like it. Thanks Guys for the Help. Glen

And, that's all that matters.

Something about a P228 without rails that gets me excited, "I actually sold both of my M11-A1's because they were never as smooth as my older P228's, but for some reason my P227SAS is one of my best shooters. I just can't seem to let my old Mak's and Sig's go.

1988 was the year that the P228 was first introduced and I have yet to see a 1988 (JJ) manufactured P228, which is why I was so excited to see your three. Unfortunately yours are 1989 (JK) P228s. Frown

That is a P229 frame. Serial # AE13683 would put it in 1995. My opinion is, it is an aftermarket FrankenSIG, not from factory. The SIG CSR told you a BS story, as far as I'm concerned. P228 frames were plenty that year. Tons on real P228s with P228-style serial numbers were made that year, and many years after. There was no shortage of P228 frames.

I’d concur with the above, the only thing I would add is that as far I’ve seen, the CPO 229’s have been refinished in the Legion gray all over, or some weird green two tones (might have been a local dealer job). I have seen the reverse two tones and wasn’t Sig still using K-Kote around that time? I missed out on a German P220 K-Kote GOTM or limited run.

West German P228 (first duty weapon)
GOTM Nickel P229
