Well, I would have to say I am waiting on baited breath for the 556 pistol to come out. Have any of you actually seen or held one? Might be one hell of a SBR project.

Someone over on AR15 is saying their dealer got 5 in today. Didn't come with 552 handguards but some kind of hacked down 556 handguards. Hopefully others got some in today and we will get some pics shortly.

If they don't come with 552 handguards, I think a lot of folks are gonna be disappointed.

Yeah a set of Swiss 552 handguards would be $150+. Also it has a standard A2 hider and not the one in the promo shots. Probably has the standard 2 screw front pin and not the push pin like the promo shots had but no one has confirmed that yet.

I hope someone posts some pics soon.

I am going to be viciously disappointed if the 556 pistols don't look like the last "official" photos which were posted everywhere...I put a deposit down on what I thought would be a gun that finally looked like a real SIG....hope they didn't F*** this up..

Here is a picture of the SIG 556 pistol. Looks like a hacked off standard 556 handguard to me. What a cheap-assed thing to do.

The worst of it is that the huge collar behind the FSB is going to prevent quad rails from fitting and probably standard 552 handguards as well. Those looking to use standard 552 handguards will have to dig up one of the 552 collars which will be nearly impossible to find. (Or maybe grind down the monstrosity Sig ships on this thing to the size of the one on the 552?) And the FSB and flash hider will have to be removed to either replace or remove that collar. Looks like Sig dropped the ball again. Must have been so concerned that someone would install a quad rail and use an illegal vertical grip that they totally bastardized it trying to prevent that.

Damn 2 cents...you ruined my day Frown (with SIG's help of course)...I just posted asking if 552 handguards would fit....I have tried to stay positive about this, but its just ridiculous the lengths SIG seems to have gone to, just to unnecessarily make things a pain in the ass...and give me a break about the vertical grip, I mean we have laws and LE agencies for a reason, it is not Sig's job to dictate to us what they think we MIGHT do with a gun WE PAY FOR....

Until they get sued by some dumbass who ends up in Club Fed for creating an illegal AOW. Shit, leaving off the rails is the MOST logical decision in the final product.

I understand everyones frustration. I am here in Afghanistan and bought sight unseen from a dealer. I have intentions to SBR it. What does the rear look like? Can a stock be put on it, after paperwork and stamp of course.
