I'm wondering from people that have handled and shot both models, is there a noticeable difference between the standard 220 and the carry model. Dimensionally there are some differences in length (7.7" vs 7.1" and in barrel length 4.4" vs 3.9") but I'm wondering in real life and shooting feel do these difference make an impact?

For me, they are very close in handling characteristics. Both are very well balanced. My P-220 Carry Equinox is probably the only one to replace my P-220 for CCW.

Here are some pics of the two.

I find the carry a bit easier to conceal than the full size. Although the full size has not been a problem. Shooting to me is not enough to sweat over. To me it is the commander size version of the P220.

My daily carry is a P220SAO Carry. I have no problems carrying it.

It's a accurate and reliable.

Thanks for the pictures P-220. Very helpful. Cartouche, your last comment is what has me second guessing.

A full size 1911 is way too big for me, but I can handle the Commander. The pics don't make the comparison look that drastic.

almost no difference in " percieved recoil " and the Carry balances better to me. just a little easier to conceal also.

I have read that the "full-sized" P220 is actually Commander-sized. Any comments?

I was using an ananogy, the carry grip is the same size as the full size P220 in the length. BBl is just shorter. As in a full size 1911 and the commander. A 1911 has a 5" bbl and the P220 is 4.4, so yes I guess it is in that sence.

I pulled out my P220 carry sas and my commander 1911, and they are almost identical in size. Not taking in the beavertail on the 1911, and the thickness of the grips, pretty dang close. The Sig is a bit thicker but that is about all. So to say the carry and the commander are compareable is right on.

Your German P-220 is insanely beautiful. Is the frame stainless or nickel?
