Should I get another P220 Stainless? Login/Join

A local shop has a very clean P220 Stainless for $640. It has an external extractor, frame made in Germany, serial number 6XX XXX. I have one currently. It's a bit older, internal extractor, serial number 3XX XXX. I use it as a suppressor host. It seems like a decent deal and I have wanted one with an external extractor.

This is my current one.

Yes. How is this even a question? Big Grin

I currently have 4 P220 pistols. The P220 is such a nice platform.
I also have that same suppressor. I would imagine they work great together.
None of my P220’s are setup as suppressor hosts, yet.

That’s a pretty nice rig you have there currently.
There is just something about a full size, single stack pistol, especially chambered in 45.

My first thought as well. Might as well have asked, "Should I take another breath?"

You can't have too many, only too few. And you always have too few. I have one currently. That's way too few.

Why not? A premium pistol at a very attractive price. I’d certainly be tempted especially if the shop was of the mind to bargain.

My thoughts exactly. Just do it.

Scratch an itch, keep a dedicated suppressor host and make a no-way-to-lose gun buy? If you've got the disposable income and you like what kind of shape the newer ST is in, why wouldn't you?

I’ve actually been trying to thin my gun collection down some. I got way too much stuff by constantly picking up the good deals. There were a lot of great deals in the northern Virginia area when I lived there a few years ago. I think I’ll pick this one up though. I just wanted to make sure I was nuts not too.

They had a second P220ST too. It was the same era as the one I have currently (similar serial #, internal extractor) but it also had a mag safety disconnect. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a SIG before. It was also MUCH more used and worn though they wanted $800 for it.

I know it was a factory option; I have a retired Flint MI police dept. 229 9mm that has one installed.

Yeah, but I think that was effectively a "special" option - from what I've seen here, I think the only ones made were for law enforcement contracts.

I feel like the answer to this question could be determined by a very simple flow chart.

Is it a Remington R51
Is it a Raven/LORCIN Etc.
Is it known to have a dangerous defect
Will your family go hungry and or will your wife murder you with it

If you answered no to those questions then.......

Of course you should buy it. Smile. I mean geez asking us is like asking asking a kid on prom night if he wants to get laid. We are not the people you come to for a no answer on this. Smile

I like mine. Well, I like mine when I get to see it. Bruce Gray has had it for about the last 12 years. I guess I may have to sue him for custody one of these days. LOL
