New carry pistol looking for a light. I tried my TLR 1, and it was a no go. Thanks for the help.

Why is it a "no go"? Because it didn't fit? If so, that's odd... I use a TLR-1 on my X-Carry grip.

If it didn't fit, are you sure it's not an X-Compact? The shorter rail on the X-Compact is too small for the TLR-1.

If it's a "no go" purely because you think it's a bit too large of a light for the X-Carry, try the TLR-7A. Similar brightness, quality, and switches, in a more compact package. (It also fits the X-Compact, if that's what you actually have.)

TLR-7A is a great pick for the X Compact. Rumor is there's a dude that sells them in the classifieds.

If the paddles are hard to reach, change out the key on the TLR to the TSW/99 key. It will move the light flush with the trigger guard.
