Sounds like a FrankenP228. That serial number would put it in 1990 (KA). The date code KK on the slide indicates a 1999 proof year. I take it the slide has no serial number on it? Have pics?

correct only frame has a serial. It was remanufactured gun by sig so that makes sense that they probably mixed up parts.

So it's just a refurbished gun, CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) as SIG would call it, with W. German frame from 1990, German slide from 1999, and barrel from the US (being without any markings on it).
And please, don't mention any selling anywhere on the forum except in the Classifieds. This is a long standing rule.

^^^^ Yeah, the red plastic case CPO. And the date on that box indicates the CPO's birthday, not when the original gun was made.

My P228 # B123 33X is a KA. The magazines say Sig Sauer on them, but no P228.

The best translation I could get for 'Bifilare' was 'two wire'.
I can only assume that would be a reference to the recoil spring.
The '+ 1C' is likely 'plus one caricatore (magazine)'

Thank you. I can find similar meaning but is bilifar, sans the e. Where are these markings? Pistols packaging or on the gun and magazine?

It is on the box label below all of the bar codes.
The magazines are 13 rounds without the 'restricted' stampings.

I was curious why you have no mention of double action 228s? Was this a law enforcemnt option only or were they available to the public? Are double action the red headed bastard step children nobody talks about? After shooting the KA I just picked up I would understand why. Horrendous trigger. Already have the parts coming to convert and a SRT kit. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and love for the P228.

You're right, the DAO P228s were made and sold to various LE agencies in the early 90s. They were later turned in and eventually offered on the civilian market.

Good Morning Folks, I would like to confirm that my old P.228 9x19 is in fact of all West German manufacture ? Honestly, I haven't actually handled it in a few years now, as since Retiring I tend to gravitate towards somewhat smaller handguns for everyday carry. It is Serial # B1460XX KB Proofed. IIRC, it was manufactured in 1991, if I recall. ( Please correct me if I'm wrong ! ) I would simply check all the markings for myself, but it's currently in storage, along with my other Sig's, an P.220 .45 ACP, P.226R-DAK .357 / .40, & P.229R-DAK .357 / .40. If anyone wishes their Serial #'s & Date Codes, please just advise. If any could confirm that my P.228 is of 'all' German manufacture, I'd be much appreciative. THANK YOU !
