Sig P226 Combat Trigger Question
New-to-me Sig P226 Combat, to which I added a Sig-factory threaded barrel.

Why did they put the Short Reach Trigger in this gun?

SIG puts the short trigger in just about every gun of theirs these days. It's like their standard, now.

Looks like yours is circa 2009. That's about the time when they really went all out with the short trigger. Before that, only occasionally.

Takin' a flyer here... Maybe since it is a 'Combat' SIG expected that the shooter would be wearing gloves?

Myself, a trigger that breaks too close to the frame results in a pistol I can't shoot well. Just sold off my few month old SP2022 for that very reason, at a considerable loss.

It seems to depend on which way the wind is blowing that day. My agency just received a 9mm DA/SA P226 directly from SIG and it has the standard trigger.

Interesting, mine (2014 production) didn't have the SRT, but does have the long extractor instead of the short as pictured.

Dart board.

You can always replace with a Sig Standard Reach (fat) trigger or a GrayGuns P-SAIT.

I use the earlier version of the P-SAIT (P-SPIT) on all my P-series. It splits the difference between the standard and short triggers. IMO, the shape of the trigger face is superior to the Sig OEM.

While there are many who like the short trigger, most on the forum have found it uncomfortable (me included).

Just sent it to Sig for the AEP, SSP, and SRT. I am also going to have them install a standard trigger.
