grip date and proof mark date
Got a P225 JE proofed (1984) and 86 marked grips. Is this normal or were grips added later?

I don’t think it’s a big deal. Grips are still “correct”.

agreed, not a big deal. Just wondering if anyone knew when the proof marks are applied, early or late in manufacture ?

From what I understand only complete new guns are proof tested then proof marks applied, which would mean at the end of the manufacturing process. I have seen pistols where the grip dates were later than the proof date, but these only had a difference of a year between them.
