If you are not picky or don't mind waiting for the right setup, VZs can often be had under $40 on the secondary market. I am currently waiting on my first example of LOK grips work. For a hi power clone, but quality should be enough to judge on. (They do get good reviews online and offer a myriad of custom options).

A Perpetual Disappointment...

I put LOK grips (G10) on my P938, later sold to another member here. LOK was the only maker who offered a P938 grip set without the right side safety cutout (and the safety cutout is large on a P938). They were quite nice, very similar to VZ, but not as many options for grip type and texture as VZ. Mine were checkered, and I smoothed off the sharp tops a bit with fine emory cloth.

When in doubt, mumble

I am waiting on a used but NIB set of VZ Simonich Gunner 1911 grips with mag release relief for the left thumb. I sure hope they arrive soon.

I use either lok bogies or VZ simonich gunner. They are the grippiest I have found, which is important when you shoot in the south where 100 degree days the norm. They last well and have stayed plenty grippy over 10's of 1000's of rounds. The bogies are a bit sharper than the VZ's, if that matters.

I don't use a thumb scoop because I have man sized hands and the scoop removes valuable real estate from where my support hands puts pressure on the grips.

They can't be used and New In Box at the same time. Once they are used they are no longer NIB.

Pachmayr 02921 Signature W/Out Backstrap. They have been around for decades for a reason. I got a small box full of 1911 grips always seem to end up back with these on any 1911 that I carry. They run about $25 at amazon

I was always a sucker for the plain Jane non-diamond cocobolo grips on the SA Professional. Classic and tasteful.

With that said, that is one incredibly cool looking pistol, and I love how the grips sort of mirror the wear on the finish.

More pics please, especially of wood grips!!!

I can’t help with the wood grip pics, but I can confirm that the wear mirrors my grip. You can see my fingers on the front strap.

That should be a 'relic' weapon in the next Fallout game. "The Trojan". Big Grin

First time with something as aggressive as VZ's Operator II grips on a DW Specialist, but have to say they're quite comfortable in use - not to mention secure. Use the pistol occasionally for IPSC.

I just like the Hogue black rubber checkered ones. They're not too abrasive, but just enough checkering to be comfortable and provide grip.

Cocobolo w/ Springfield armory logo on my EMP are my favorite; but on my most used 1911’s I prefer VZ double diamond g10 black grips!
