A wise move on Hogue's part, Ken! When demand is such that NOS Pachmayrs for the 225 are going for 175 bucks, something is very wrong.
Thanks for offering the discount to forum members. Smile

Bingo! They can be inexpensive, but NEVER cheap. If I can't get Crimson Trace to tool up for some P225 laser grips, I'll be buying these.

Couldn't agree more; especially since we know going in that Hogue does not do "cheap", as in less than excellent quality.

Plus, for a major player in after-market products to jump in and invest the time and money required to satisfy the cries from consumers is most unusual. Especially so when even though there are a lot of P6's out there now, it's not as if it is a current production weapon. No matter how many they import, sooner or later they will dry up.

To my eyes and hands, the Extreme Series as a finished product is of better quality than many "OEM" items (NOT just in the firearms line - but across the board).

It would be wonderful if they are a massive success and make further models (rubber, finger grips etc) financially rewarding for Hogue.

No matter where the line winds up, they have created a heck of a lot of good-will for even making the move to produce ANY style of grip for the P6. Others MIGHT follow, but Hogue will still be viewed as being the first.

If it stops with the Extreme Series, folks will still be happy and the brand name will be at the top of their list when buying for guns they purchase in the future.

More execs should listen to the voice of the buying public. Hogue would have successfully continued to be a leader in the market without worrying about this one gun. Yet, they IMHO are just a tad sharper than others - they are taking a financial risk, yet it's the better than any designated "advertising dollars" they could have spent on other products.

Not a 'biggie' to some P6 owners. But to those who have resorted to a roll of electrical tape, it's like a gift from above! Wink

Thanks for the reply Ken, I never thought about the start-up costs of a new style grip....makes me feel sort of foolish to have asked for the rubber finger grips Confused If in fact in the future it proves to work out for you and it's worth while in your opinion to produce them..I'll be first in line. Till then the pachmayrs have already put me in the poor house for 3 sets so they'll stay for now. Thanks as some have mentioned for listening. And I'm very thankful that I have the Hogues on my P228...I love em Wink

It seems strange to start out with the most expensive model in the line-up for a pistol that most are getting for less than $300. If they're spending the money to tool up to produce anything, it seems like it'd make more sense to do so for the more inexpensive end of the spectrum. I guess the margins on the aluminum grips must be pretty impressive so as to make this economically prudent, but I just can't see that many people shelling out $160 for grips to put on a $260 pistol.

I agree, but damn if they are the only game in town, besides wood grips which i'm not too found of, what choice do we have? At least they are listing to customers

I'm sure this is the most efficient route to start with, since I'm pretty sure this is their newest line of grips availiable. I'm sure the tech. investment Hogue has put forward to offer shooters a newer product will be worth it on these grips, even for the price. As stated earlier, this will be a top notch product from a trusted Mfg. in the industry.

As stated in an earlier reply, at this time rubber grips are not in the offering.

The first step in manufacturing (a grip) is a Model drawing. Once the model is done and to the liking, the next step in making the grip. Making the Extreme series grip first is the fastest and most economical so to speak. Next to come, once time permits will be a wood grip, again, we have the model of the grip then it’s just a matter of fixtures and cutting of the wood. Lastly would be rubber. Again we have the drawing, now it’s making the supporting tooling to go with that grip. Rubber grips are the most economically priced grip but cost 15-20 x' more to produce out of the block. So, to start off with the Extreme series grip, in a way sound crazy for some and not so bad for others. If we knew we would sell 6000 rubber grip a year I'm sure we would look at this more serious.

When they are available, I'm all in!
I've heard that they are slimmer than stock sig grips, is this true?

Ken,

I'd love to see pics of the Hi Power grips. They are not listed on the website.

AMC;
Not sure as of yet what the thickness is, we are tring to make them as thin as possible. Once I have a first article in hand I will post it right here.

HK-Sigman;
PM sent. I will send you a couple pictures of the Hi-Power Extreme grips on Monday

FWIW. I just walked by the mill and saw Ruger P85-91 series Extreme grips in production. Those of you that have them on order, it shouldn't be long now.......I don't know, but the 93-94's should be shortly also.

Ken,
I was wondering if these grips will be manufactured to also fit guns that have the short hammer strut and the newer plastic mainspring seat. It would also be nice if the right grip panel was relieved to accept the coiled trigger bar spring.
Thanks,
Chuck
