Looking to add to my first purchase 9mm purchase (p229). Should I go P226 or another direction and try out another company - no glocks here as the grips just don't do it for me.

Check out the Sig Pro 2022, they are great guns i just picked one up and its caused me to get the Sig bug again bad. I think there might be one or two in the classifieds.

I love Sigs and own 3 of them. If you want to stick with the 9mm round and Sigs I'd suggest tracking down one of those P6/225 surplus pistols coming from old W. German police units. They are quality pieces for a very reasonable price, in most places. You should be able to find one for $350 or lower.

I'm also a fan of Kahr and S&W. Give one of those company's offerings a try for something a little bit different.

The 226 is best in my opinion. you may want to check out some of the other great 9mm pistols like beretta 92, hipower, CZ 75, XD9 or HK. You can't go wrong with any of them, it's just whatever fits you best. If you can get to a range and test a few, that would be a great way to go.

The 226 is a classic, classic weapon, a true handgun lover almost has to own one.

With that said, take a look at the M&P. I fired around 1500 problem free rounds this weekend, and it wasn't simple range shooting. This was move and shoot from different positions, fast shooting, induced malfunction clearing, etc.

I'm pretty happy with the M&P at this point.

I'll be considering the M&P compact when financing will allow it.

You really didn't say what you'll use this new 9mm for. The P229 you already have is a great gun and the P226 isn't substantially different, although it is a little different and a must own for a SIG enthusiast. Here are some of my faorite 9mm pistols aside from SIGS.

HK P30
HK P2000 and P2000SK
HK USP and USP compact
Springfield XD and XD sub compact
Although I don't have one, the new XDm 9mm looks interesting
Smith & Wesson M&P and M&P compact
Kahr P9 and PM9 for deep concealment

Other SIGS worth checking out in 9mm are the P239, P225 and the vernable P228 (although the P228 will be the most similar to your P229, and yet very unique). Good luck whatever you decide.

For 9mm I usually recommend first the P228, then the 226, but the XDm is winning me over.

So, with that, and to add a little variety, I'll say the XDm 9mm, 19+1 capacity.

Lots of good guns out there but I like Sigs the best, so........

The P226 will fit your hand VERY much like your P229. As has been said, the P226 (and the P220) are Sig's "Flagship" pistols and, IMHO, there is good reason for this. They're similar, but you won't regret owning a P226.

If you want to branch out a bit, the SP2022 is also a GREAT Sig. Take-down is slightly different but not hard, trigger is buttery smooth right out of the box, and everyone here that has one raves about it.

Something a bit more different would be to find an old German or W. German P220 in 9mm. The German P220's are considered by many to be THE best example of Sig's work.

MY next 9mm Sig will be a P210. I'm looking for the right gun at the right price, so it may take a while. It will be the Crown Jewel of my Sig collection when I find it.

If you consider yourself a Sig enthusiast, then a P226R in 9mm is a must have. Outside of Sig and you specifically mentioned no Glocks (you are missing out), I would recommend the following:

M&P 9 or an M&P 9c
Springfield XDm
FNH 9mm (can't beat the price)

I would pick the P226 first, then the following:

HK P30
XDm
then, any of the following: P2000, P2000SK, PM9, P228, M&P

I think you'll be happy with whatever you choose, but if you're looking for that 1 pistol to satisfy your itch, you probably won't find it Wink

A P226 would be logical if you want to stick with a SIG. The HK P30 is another fine choice for a 9mm as is a Kahr K9.

I suggest branching out. Experience some of the other actions available in the calibre.

How about a Browning Hi-power, 1911 in 9mm or HK P7m8?

I would say choose a 226, a Beretta 92fs , or an HK P30.

Those have to be the best going right now.
