I purchased a P6 back when they were being imported and after shooting it a few times, it became a safe queen. I have decided to make a project gun out of it starting with replacing the standard P6 trigger and hammer with P225 parts before sending it to CCR for refinishing. Are those parts still available these days and if so, where?

You may already know this:
I sent my P6 in to Sig for the SSP and asked them to switch the internal parts to P225 parts in order to lose the hard trigger pull the Euro guns have.
No luck.

Sig didn't have any parts to fit it?

Parts were on hand. But they told me they were only authorized to restore the gun to factory specs. Which in this case was Euro specs.
The AEP work may be different. Have not tried that option yet.

All I had to do was swap the factory recoil spring for a 19b Wolff spring. No light primer strikes. GTG.

I did the short trigger, SRT kit, and Wolff hammer spring. It all works well, but if I had it to do again I would forget the SRT. The reset is plenty short enough with the short trigger.

What weight is the original hammer spring?

Not sure exactly, but somewhere around 20-21 pounds I believe. I bought the Wolff set which comes with 3 spring weights.

I've got several P6s, and I changed the mainspring seat, the hammer strut, and the hammer spring. Seat and strut are available from Brownells, and the hammer spring probably is as well, but the part number I had isn't working.

These are the part numbers that are still good:

mainspring seat: Brownells part 732-000-254 Sig part 34280445 $6.00

hammer strut: Brownells part 732-000-155 Sig part 34280446 $14.00

To change to the newer style strut and seat you will have to do a little filing on the inside of the grips, but nothing that's visible when put together, and it doesn't affect function. If you're changing grips, the space is probably already there with the newer grips.

Of course it is your decision, but personally, I wouldn't change the hammer. The notch is what makes the P6 readily identifiable as a P6, and there's no downside of which I'm aware. For me it's the character of the gun. If you want a P225, you can buy a P225. But that is just my opinion.

I've replaced the stock sights with 8/8 bar dot. Installed a standard p225 hammer spring. Bought a new p225 barrel. Modified an old p220 trigger. I think it would be hard to make my p6 feel like my p225. Sounds like a good project. I recommend the Sig Sauer tool.

I have since sold mine, but like you I just wanted to try a fun project. I bought a P6 for $300, sent it to Gray Guns for a trigger job, who made the action feel smooth as butter, I sent the gun to Robar and had them NP3 everything and then added some Nil Grips. Kinda wish I would have kept it, but the fun was in the project. Here are some photos.

Any ideas on where I can locate a trigger? I purchased one from Numrich and it was crap.

You can post a want to buy in this forum. Some folks got short 225/P6 triggers and did not care for them, and had them for sale. I own two(2) P-6/225 handguns, and put short triggers in both. Actually, I have short triggers in all of my Sig handguns. I have not seen new 225 short triggers for sale in a long time.
