I previously posted a list of P220 serial numbers vs. manufacture dates. The following is an updated version. The dates have been collected, for the most part, from other forum members. In other cases, these have been pulled from gun auction ads where the s/n and manufacture dates are shown on the side of the box. There are inconsistencies in the list, which may be due to inaccuracies or simply due to Sig builds out of sequence. Regardless, this list should be considered as Reference Only. If you need an accurate date for a specific firearm, you will need to contact Sig. Please contact me if you can provide corrections or have other information to add, and I'll be glad to do so. Note: I do not have info for other Sig pistols.

Pretty cool!

I had a pair of G246xxx guns, and those were some of the best pistols I ever owned. The finish back then was still fragile, and it didn't take much cleaning/carrying before the finish started going S. But... they were great pistols!! =)

Thanks,

So I can assume a G281XXX would have been made around 1997?

Nice work. Congratulations.

Remove subjective statements like "some think..." and your work will be even more appreciated and becomes a serious statement.

everybody thinks, blieves and feels, but thinking believing and feeling is far away from a fact. Your work is a fact, not a guidline for estimates.

Keep up the good work

regards,

Daniel

Is it really a "fact".

My all matching serial number G184xxx P220 has a KB proof mark date code.
Obviously this pistol would have had to been made in 1991 or earlier to have been proven in 1991.
This would imply that P220 serial G181xxx was either proven out of sequence or the 1992 date is incorrect.

1bigguy, did your G254xxx have a proof mark for 1995 or 96? The other example was KG (1996 and out of sequence). Thanks.

Thanks Keith! Mine is a 1993 Model. It must have been a good year, because this is a GOOD 220!

It doesn't look like that they follow any particular order. My SAO is a 379 - xxx, and the owner of the shop I got it from said that he received it from Sig as a CPO gun in June of 2008. Doesn't make much since, does it?

I refuse to pay Sig the money to find out when it was actually made though, so I guess I'll never really know.

254,97X. The gun has triple serial numbers but is not German proofed. Grip panels are dated 5/94.
