JTF-2 actually used the P226 prior to & migrated away from the BHP some time ago..

People have been accidently shooting themselves with their own guns since guns were invented, and I am pretty sure that trend will continue for centuries to come.

You may be thinking of the DAK P226ST that the RCMP adopted at one time. Some RCMP contract overruns were made available for sale here:





According to Canada’s Secret Commandos: The Unauthorized Story of Joint Task Force Two by David Pugliese, published in 2002, at the time JTF2 did use 9mm SIG Classic line pistols (P225, P226, P228, P229). That was a deliberate decision not to use Browning Hi Powers which were the other option, supposedly because they could be carried safely with rounds chambered, whereas the BHP could not. No mention of the DAK, but then the book was written before the introduction of the DAK trigger, so it could have been adopted later.

Not DAK but TDA. Same spec as the NSW P226 as well...
