Just scrolling through the mountains of Sig pistols @ GunBroker and, on page 8..hint, I find a guy selling a like new in box W.German nickle P226. Same guy has a NR nickle P229 up for bid. The P226 has it's sights nickled? Is this correct as it seems they would have installed the sights after the plateing? For some reason I thought I read the sights were the only part which was not plated.

Any nickel SIG with nickel sights has been tampered with. Factory guns come with black sights.
The P226 on Gunbroker does not look all that great to me but the P229 does. You pays your money and you takes your chances.. |

Yeah, I just looked at that gun and something isn't right. Not only are the sights nickel (and the guy who posted the auction should learn how to spell nickel!), but the finish looks very white. I can't tell if it's just a crappy photo or what. And the price is ridiculous.
There is another one on there right now in great shape that looks like the real deal (and it's spelled correctly). It's on it's third time around because the guy started off way too high. It's still high in my opinion, but it looks legit at least. I looked for one of these guns for almost two years and passed on many that were way too high for me. I recently just won an auction for one in decent shape for less than $500. I'm glad I held out. I'm not a collector - the guns I buy I carry and shoot. And while finding an old West German gun NIB is a thrill, for me at least, it will not remain NIB very long! This exact gun was discussed here about 9 months ago on a thread I wouldn't know how to find.
From what I remember in the end the gun was thought to be the real thing and plated by a different outfit. The thread was probably in the 3/09 time frame. I came close to buying the gun for about $700 before the guy decided not to sell. The guy selling it now is the same person I almost bought it from. |

This guy sold a package of 6 SIG nickels in September for a little over $4100. My question is where the hell does someone find at least 8 nickel SIGs to sell?

1Bigguy,
Do you know how to contact that guy, because I wouldn't mind buying that P226, I like how the sights are nickeled, plus it looks like the barrel is as well. |
