I voted 1911, over priced, too touchy in order to be reliable, heavy and limited capacity. Excuse me while I put my flame suite on.

Unlike the COLT 1911, which has been tarnished by copycats, the ppk at it's best was/is just another pocket auto, which generally has a bad trigger pull compared to what we have today.

I voted Glock as most overrated.
I've had 3 to date and even though I enjoyed the hell out of all of them, they all broke and I lost my confidence.

Original G19, broken extractor on the range (thank God, this was my last issue gun).
Second G19, snapped off the little square boss of the striker pin.
Personal G35, I really liked this one, but it broke the striker at the firing pin section. Repaired it and sold it.

I really hate to bash the Glocks because I do like them, but I just don't trust them to live up to their bulletproof reputation. Especially when I have an old Colt SAA and my old father's old RemRand 1911 which I shoot the hell out of and never a problem- go figure.

I voted the P7. I guess I am one of the few that doesn't like that gun enough to understand it's following.

Over-rated by whom, and in what way?

Over-rated does not mean a pistol is necessarily inferior in any way.

The most reliable, accurate, and ergonomic pistol on the planet may deserve most of its praise, but if its fanboys say it can be used for sniping at 1000 yards, or perform brain surgery, then that pistol is being over-rated by those fanboys.

When I started shooting handguns in 1983, I would say the 1911 was the most over-rated pistol. While a truly excellent pistol to this day, and a personal favorite of mine, it was over-rated by many, and is still over-rated by some.

Today, the Glock is the most over-rated, in my opinion, because of the sheer number of people doing that over-rating. The Glock is an excellent pistol, IF it fits one's hands, once one has mastered the mushy trigger.

Plenty of folks over-rate SIGs, too, but SIGs have not been numerous enough to be the MOST over-rated, the way I see the term. Moreover, folks who really like SIGs tend to be realistic about them, and not over-rate them, or so it seems to me.

To understand, you must first buy-in...

None over rated. No snobs in the group. Nice diversity. 1 of each is called for.

I don't need to. My dad did. I have put as many rounds through the P7 as some owners have. I am not bashing the gun, I just don't like it.

I voted PPk.

Yeah, some people rave about Glock. But, at least they are what they claim to be. It is accurate, reliable, etc.

PPk is just a so so 380 or 32 pistol. It might have been a fairly good pistol in that category when it came out, but at this time it's just seems to be nothing more than a mediocre 380.

Besides James Bond, I don't see what's so special about it. In "historic classic" category, this one is one of those that I don't have a particular desire to own.

Agreed. It's true crown in the arms world is being the first production gun with a "decocker"

Most overated gun to me is the beretta 92 Red Face

It's a toss-up for me between the Beretta and the Springfield...I can't stand the 92FS ergos, but it is a helluva lot more accurate than the XD...

I hate to say it, but I went with the 1911. I loved my Pro/Rail, however I'm just as accurate with my G21sf.

1911, excellent design...for it's time. I shoot my buddy's Kimbers and STIs. While enjoyable, it's just not "all that". I am more accurate with my 2340, and I like the DA/SA as much as the SA straight push trigger. They are also known to stovepipe 2 or 3 times apiece at the range. Eek
