general consensus seems to think that these are every bit as good as the original Beretta mfged guns.

I have the Beretta version and these are certainly very interesting and not too commonly seen.

I'm not a big fan of the rotating barrel design however. Just seems to be too overly complicated for a handgun.

I have one in 9mm as well. For the money they are hard to beat. They are made off Beretta's old Cougar tooling. Some people complain about the plastic guide rods, but if it bothers you that much it is easy enough to swap it out for a metal one. Other than that, mine has been flawless, it is accurate and reliable. I bought mine because I was offered one at a price I just couldn't say no too. However, even before then I had been eye balling them, they are a good bargain, if the SP2022 wasn't a slightly better deal I probably would have bought one sooner.

Excellent guns. Up there with the Taurus PT92 in terms of quality gun at low cost.

Wish I knew someone that had one and would let me try it on for size. I do like the looks.

our local Academy Sports and Bass Pro shops carry them and always have them in stock.

Regarding the comment comparing these to Taurus, in my opinion (no flame wars please), the Stoeger is leaps ahead of any Taurus in quality. A very fine (underated) product coming out of Turkey.

Stoegers are build on the Beretta tooling. I have a Beretta Cougar in .45 and it has been great. The rotating barrel design really makes a difference with the .45ACP. It feels like I'm shooting a 9mm.

I would think that rotating barrel system would be more common, as it would seem inherently more accurate than the various tip-up locking systems (swinging link, ramp, etc.).
Does it really work OK?

Excellent full-sized service gun, very well made... built like a 'tank' (all metal) and a VERY, VERY ACCURATE shoot.
Bought mine (9mm) about 2-yrs ago for $350 NIB... anywhere near $400, jump on it, you won't regret it.

I was surprised by the weight of the pistol.

That's one reason I really like them - they are made of METAL - no plastic (polymer for those offended).
