I was at the range last week and my P6 stopped working. The trigger would not reset and the gun wouldn't fire.

Todd at Customized creation sent me an email telling me to check to see if the pivot pin had moved out into the left grip. It has Marshcal grips and they have a hole in the back of the left grip that is accross from the pivot pin. I removed the left grip and the pin was way out. I pushed the pivot pin back in and the gun functions as new.

I will fill that hole in the back of the left grip with epoxy so that it doesn't happen again.

So if you have Marchal grips on your P6 you may want to check under the left grip and if you have this hole fill it with wood filler or epoxy.

I still love the grips by the way But They should eliminate that hole in the back of left grip.

Which BTW I have emailed awhile ago to Marschal the problem and they never got back to me on it. So I am not sure if this is something they will be correcting or not.

Just thought I would add that.

Todd

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a set of Marschal grips for my P225 (not P6) so I suspect I could have the same problem.

I ordered my grips last week, paid for them and Marschal never confirmed the order. I have sent 2 emails asking they confirm my order, but thus far no response. I'm now scratching my head wondering if I did the right thing.

I am not sure about emails to them. I ve sent several about purchasing in bulk possibly. But never heard anything. So with that to say, I ve been contemplating machining them myself and marketing a grip. But its alot of work and the time frame I would have to see if its even feasible to do right now.

But to answer the question I saw a set last week that just came in and they still had the hole there. So obviously if this was a problem that was reported 6 months ago, they havent made a change on it yet that I ve seen. And I see P6 parts numerous times a day !! LOL

There was a thread about this in the beginning of october. basically the pin drifts towards the left during use, and the hole in the marschal grip is to deep on the left side. but it is also too deep on the right as well. but the pin doesn't drift that way. here is a pic of a filled filled in hole on the left grip plate. i used epoxy putty. and tried to fill it in to about the depth of stock, not flush.

oh i have also put a few hundred rounds thru my 2 p6s with the modified grips, without issue. i also filled the right panel's hole about half way with putty as well. but thats probably not needed.

Thanks for the "heads up" plus the photo. I just pulled my left grip, and found said pin out much more then normal. I cut a steel dowel pin that just fit the hole, and siliconed it in place. As you said, not totally flush, but should do the job. Again, thanks......Doc

My P6 had been to the range several times and a couple hundred rounds put threw it before the failure occured. in fact it happened on the 4th mag full the day it stopped shooting.

actually i am fairly certain that the pin will drift with only dry firing.

as i first encountered the problem when i had been dry firing the weapon, everything was good until the trigger felt like it had 2 stages. a long pull and then a definite "notch" with an extremely light pull beyond the "notch". the feeling was totally different than the original.

after the filler, i dry fired a couple hundred times, then i inspected the pin. i took it to the range and put 200ish rounds thru it, and then i inspected the pin. the pin seems to be in place now with no drift.

Mine moved with dry firing only, as did yours.

FYI/FWIW

To check your order status from Mr. Marschalko, go here, http://www.marschalgrips.com/onlineorder/track.php

Enter your zip code or whatever and read the code. Explanations at the bottom of that page.

Due to the amount of work he's experiencing, a lot better and faster than sending him an e-mail.

Yes, you can have a decocker problem on certain P6's with Marschal grips. The problem is the decocker binds where it goes into the back of the left grip. I took a Dremel tool and ground out the slot a little wider and longer and then it worked fine.
