It's going to be well-nigh impossible to resist now! Looks like a call to OO or to Top Gun Supply is in the cards....

Between these guys and the gang in Fossil, OR...I'm never going to get ahead. Big Grin

It would be a fun caliber to play with if Sig made one, but I'm not crazy about Glocks and could get too many other fun things for the price of the 1911.

I hate Glocks too, but this just might get me past that.

'course I'd have to take a up handloading as a hobby to afford feeding that monster.

...because that extra .05 of an inch makes such a difference...

Besides the "size matters" aspect, what's the advantage of this over .45 +P? Glocks generally do fine with +P ammo and you get 5 more rounds. For $600, you can buy your own reloading equipment and make your own .45 ACP loads that are neck and neck with the energy of .50 GI. They may not have the cool factor of this conversion but in my opinion, are quite a bit more practical.

90% of gun malfunctions can be attributed to poor ammo (reloads, Russian, etc.), lack of maintenance, weak springs, cheap magazines, or improper technique. When a well-trained shooter using a wide variety of high quality ammunition fed from a reliable, self-leveling magazine shoots your gun after it's gone through a through inspection, spring replacement, and cleaning, and still has problems, then it's the gun. Until then, the problem is YOU.

What is the allure of the .50GI. If the difference between it and .45ACP were like .40S&W compared to 10mm that might be worth the shooting experience but it's a slightly larger and slightly heavier bullet but that seems to be all.

Seriously, why would you find it so exciting?

Its just like the theory of looking at a .45 barrel or a 9mm barrel , down the wrong end. But I guess when I "Taxi Driver" in the mirror, the .45 does look pretty intimidating. But I think the common BG isnt going to care whether its a .45 or a 9mm.

Its just the typical musclecar thing, Big Block vs Small Block. They are both fast, but the BB car is always the more appealing American Way !!!

Now if there was a 220 .50.......... Big Grin

I'll have to reconsider that G20 purchase now.

You'll definitely make "Power Factor" with that beast....

It would be kinda cool to make one, but I dunno if I can convince Bruce to do it or not.

On a Sig you might have trouble squeezing one of those rounds into a P220 mag well. As for a Glock, I don't think it would be too hard to make. It looks like they just bored out the muzzle opening on the slide and dropped in a custom barrel. Maybe they changed the extractor but that's probably about it. Then, just buy their mags and you'd be set to go.

For me, I'm waiting for a factory Glock longslide in .357 Sig without cutouts on the top of the slide. The bigger bore doesn't do it for me, not at what I'd be paying for ammo.

At around a dollar a round I'd have to think long and hard before I shot somebody with one of those.
