Tom at Top Gun reduced the price of the Fair grade Sig 225 to $299 this weekend.

I started thinking about other excellent firearm purchases you can make for $300.

Excluding tax and transfer fees if applicable, what are your favorite weapons that can be bought for $300 or less?

It has to be readily available with little work needed to find one. Can be new or used, but used must in very usable condition. They don't need anything (other than a good cleaning) to perform like new.

List your favorites that you can't figure out why everyone else doesn't already own one.

My short list would be (other than Tom's 225):

Remington 870 pump, 12 gauge - new for less than $300
Used Ruger Mark II pistol.
Smith and Wesson Model 10 revolver.

Ruger Service Six
Ruger P90
S&W model 64

Granted all these are used guns, but usually still in great condition when found.

Purchased my P6 for $250 + NICS fee. Originally, I was going into the store to buy a police trade Glock in .40. Luckily I brought my best friend along, who promptly spotted the P6 in the case. (The Glock was out on a table.) He correctly pointed out that I like Sigs and it was fifty bucks cheaper. I think I can safely say I will never sell my P6.

As far as handguns not already mentioned, used S&W revolvers with some finish issues can still be found for around $300. Used P series Rugers can also be found for at, or less than, $300. The same applies to used Blackhawks.

As far as rifles, I still can't believe that more gun enthusiast's still aren't jumping on large ring 98 style Mausers. Ammo is still relatively cheap and deals like the following can still be had.

My VZ24 is one of my favorite fun guns.

A PA63 in 9x18 Mak, a Steyr M40A1, and a S&W Model 10 4" .38 spec were my fav $300 guns. I also got my P6 for $299; but, I don't think they're that low anymore!

*IF* you can find a used Norinco 1911A1 that is original and mechanically sound (not messed with) for $300, jump on it.

These high quality pistols make great reliable shooters as is, or the base for a very nice custom should you want that later.

The TGS 225 will be the best gun you have ever owned.
$299 makes it just that much more sweeter.
