I shot a friend M&P 9l for the first time. Ive always disliked them, mostly for principle reasons. But after shooting it i love it. I shot it better than i shoot glocks, and i didint think that was possible. So now the hunt is on, I may buy one!
So i have been looking at the 9 and the 9l. On smith's website it says the 9l has a polymer frame and the 9 has a zytel polymer frame. Is there a difference?

Zytel is a DuPont trade name for a family of nylon-type polymers. It is the polymer used in all M&P's and several other makes of polymer guns. There is no difference in frame composition between the M&P9 and 9L.

And, yes, isn't the M&P great to shoot? I believe it has the best ergonomics of ANY double-stack semi out there.

I would think just about anything could be shot better than a Glock. Just because of the ergonomics of them, and the trigger system.
They just don't lend themselves to target work.

I have never seen a Glock at a Bulleye match.

Bob...

...Dave Sevingy...

I've also watched Kyle Lamb and some other very high speed guys do things with Glocks (like consistant 100 yard shots onto a small steel silhouette) that made me a believer of their accuracy.

I have no problem knocking down steel plates or bowling pins with my G21 from the 50 yard line and would gladly put that gun against any Sig.

They have excellent triggers and good ergonomics for me. Maybe you're just used to something else.

Brew-
I like the M&P series too. They're great guns. The 9mm is so soft on recoil it feels like you're shooting a fullsize steel framed 360 to me. They're all made of the same material so you're good with any one that you get.

The point made was not that the gun made Dave good. It was to refute the statement that "I have never seen a Glock at a Bulleye match."

Are you implying that D.S. shoots bullseye? Wink

If you decide on the longer barrel, think about an M&P Pro. It has better sights IMO but most importantly it has a Performance Center sear that is solid machined not MIM. It gives a better trigger pull.

Actually, no. I caught that as well. Smile

But it is nonsense to say that "...just about anything could be shot better than a Glock."

The point was that Glock is as accurate as the shooter can be.

...and no Dave does not shoot NRA bullseye Smile

I like Glocks as well, but I have never seen one hold a candle to any SIG when it comes to accuracy...

YMMV

I do not own one, but I've shoot a few (M&P9/9L). Cant complaint. If it fits you, got for it. Just beware of the M&P Sigma (Dont even think about it).

Does anyone make or use a performance sear for sig P series?

Drop and aftermarket barrel and a match grade slide lock into a Glock and it'll be as accurate as you want it to be.

Lawrad, about performance sears and hammers for Sigs, Grayguns has been talking about making one for quite a while. I am quite surprised that nobody has done so yet, almost every other major firearm design has many aftermarket, off the shelf parts that help improve the trigger pull.

If you think gun magazines are objective or honest, when's the last time they wrote a truly negative review of a firearm? Do you really think all of those pre-production models they're shooting run as reliably and shoot as accurately as they say they do?

90% of gun malfunctions can be attributed to poor ammo (reloads, Russian, etc.), lack of maintenance, weak springs, cheap magazines, or improper technique. When a well-trained shooter using a wide variety of high quality ammunition fed from a reliable, self-leveling magazine shoots your gun after it's gone through a through inspection, spring replacement, and cleaning, and still has problems, then it's the gun. Until then, the problem is YOU.

As far as I know, the metallurgical properties of the Sig hammer and sear are pretty good. If we made aftermarket ones it would be to change some of the angles and interfaces to improve trigger feel. I don't know if the S&W PC sear for the M&P is any different dimensionally, but as I understand it it is machined from bar stock while the standard one is MIM.

I have a KKM match grade barrel and a Graham match grade slide lock on my Glock 22. My P229 will outshoot it regardless...
