Thread title is misleading. There are no G19s in here at all. Mad

Does this apply to distances 6 feet or less?
At what distance does the optic loose its advantage?

There are two separate issues here. First, do you use the sights at all? If the answer to that question is yes, then what sights are better?

I don't know if anyone has formally studied the range at which point shooting ceases to be accurate enough. I'd guess less than your 6 feet. Maybe three or four. Beyond that, getting sights on target is going to help you get good hits.

Once you need sights, you need to pick one type and stay with it. I like the idea of not having to pick up three different points at three different focal distances. But there's no free lunch. If you go optic, you have to work in the technique of getting the gun in position so that the dot is at least in your vision when you brign the gun up.

Maybe we need a dedicated Optic vs Iron thread?

Thanks BBMW,

I believe that would be a good idea. So much to consider.
