Not sure why Sig doesn't do this, but anyway....I've added steel shim(s) between the decocking lever and the frame. They were purchased from McMaster Carr for roughly $7 for 50 and the install is cake. Below is the procedure I used on both a P226 and P6. I would imagine the same could be used on all P Series pistols (don't hold me to that).

1. Remove left side grip
2. Remove decocking spring while holding the bushing from the back side (I used my little finger)
3. Lift decocking lever from bushing
4. Place pre-lubed shim on bushing
5. Re-assemble pistol varifying decocking function before re-installing grip

Piece of cake. The part numbers are as follows:
pn:98055A095 0.1mm thick
pn:98055A096 0.2mm thick
pn:98055A097 0.3mm thick

All the shims have a 5mm ID and 10mm OD.

I used a 0.2mm shim on my 226ST and a 0.3mm shim on my 226R (alloy frame) and a 0.2mm shim on either side (two total) of the decocker of my wife's P6. Not only does this lift the decocker off the frame, but tightens up the function.

No more scratched frame.

Instead of holding the bearing in place with your hand, insert a magazine into the pistol Wink.

Now if I can keep my barrels from getting the finish worn off from shooting...

Brass shims would be even better. What holds the shim in place?

Tom, great info thanks!

I'm assuming you ordered 50 of each size? Any chance you've got some extras I could send you a couple bucks for?

I just checked the vendor's site, and they have brass shims similar to the steel ones the OP mentioned. But they're in English (not metric) measurements. Still, they look like they might work (I haven't done the conversions, yet).

Brilliant! Does Mcmaster-Carr sell Teflon shims?

We will test this idea to offer our customers, if you don't mind? It's a good idea. Up to now, we've been having to clear, blend, polish and refinish the backsides of these levers to prevent scratches. Ugh...this would be so much easier, as long as it tests without any unforseen reliability or durability issues. Great stuff! How much you want for it?

I don't see any Teflon shims. The only non-metallic ones I see are made of either polyester or PVC.

Here's the link to their site (you'll have to search for "shims").

Bruce,
Perhaps you guys could contact this company and get exact sizes made? They seem to offer a large variety of teflon shims/washers:

Tempest, the shim goes between the decocker and the frame. In the case of my wifes P6, one shim goes between the decocker and the frame and the second between the decocker and the decocker spring.

I will post pictures tonight.

Bruce, its a freebee...although trigger work on my 226ST might be nice Smile

Isn't there away to "help" prevent smileys by polishing the inside surfaces of the slide? I have yet to try it but maybe I will when I get my 226 back from CCR.

Not to hijack the thread but I have yet to fire my 229SAS - still new in the box and it has a LOT of barrel wear from dry firing/racking the slide.

Back on topic - idea seems interesting... I'd like to see pics!

Please tell me one of you noticed the double entendre, haha. Yeah, I'm immature; so what. It's funny.
