I have an old, finicky 22LR rifle. I really like it, but have noticed that light strikes occur much more often on some types of ammo, like CCI 22LR standard velocity (ie: 0032) ammo. That's too bad because it shoots tight groups with that stuff.
Is anyone aware of a summary of 22LR ammo primer sensitivity? I'd like to see the variation before buying more ammo for this rifle. thanks. (BTW, Today I ordered a replacement hammer spring from Numrich to try to make the rifle less picky.) "Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive." - William F. Look for .22 ammo that says "Eley prime", it is usually easier and more reliable to ignite. Aguila uses this, and has worked in every .22 I've tried it in.

Thanks. I'll try to find some of that ammo.
I did speak with CCI technical support yesterday. They were helpful and knowledgeable. They indicated that European rimfire rifles may have slightly tighter chambers. This could lead to the cartridge not seating completely, perhaps in the presence of debris. In turn, this could lead to light strikes. Surprisingly, my replacement hammer spring from Numrich showed up today, so I'll install that. However cartridge seating is something to consider.
