I was considering getting some FIOCCHI, mfg. Italy. 9mm +P+ 115gr fmj 2007 production with NATO head stamp and was wondering how “Hot” the ammo was?
And if it would be OK to use in a H+K P7M8 and Sig X5 L1? Thanks Mitch This message has been edited. Last edited by: braillediver, |

Don't know but I am about to find out and order a case from Dan's. I like Nato ammo for carbines. Not necessary in handgun / short distance targets. IMO
Blackwater P226R * Equinox P229R/40 * P239/357sig * P229 40/357 Reverse TT GOTM * P220ST Nitron * P229R/9 * X-Five Tactical * P220 Super Match * P226 non rail 357/40 |

According to Janes the Italians load their military 9mm NATO with an 8 gram bullet at 305 meters/second. That's a 124gr bullet at 1,000 fps.
Several years ago I chrono's some Italian manufactured commercial 115gr Fiocchi JHP ammo at around 1,300 fps from a Beretta 92f and Glock 19. This was not marked as +P ammo. Usually when looking at the Fiocchi line you don't see a +P load listed but their ammo usually runs at US ammo's +P velocity. |

Depends.
Fiochi 9x19 made in the USA is made to SAAMI standards, and ammo made in Italy to CIP standards. The CIP pressure max is about the same as the SAAMI +P max, around 38,500 psi. NATO mil-spec varies. US M882 NATO can be as high as 46,250 psi. Or not. IMI NATO mil spec is about the same as the SAAMI +P/CIP limit... >>>>----)--> Deja vu DVC: In archery we have three goals; to shoot accurately, to shoot powerfully, to shoot rapidly. - Anonymous Byzantine general, On Strategy (Peri Strategias) c. Uh, about how fast would one expect a 125-grain bullet to be propelled from a cartridge of 46,250 psi chamber pressure? ---------------------------------------- Death smiles at us all. Be sure you smile back. |

Specs 385 +/- 15 ms (1263 fps +/- 45 fps) at 16m (53 ft) from a 200mm (7.9") test bbl, or about the same at 15 ft from an M9.
Early lots of Olin XM882 from XM9s avgd 1273 fps at 15 ft. Recent stuff may not be as hot. Max pressure at case mouth is 36,250 psi, mid case pressures are 8-10K higher (closer to where SAAMI measures pressure). >>>>----)--> Deja vu DVC: In archery we have three goals; to shoot accurately, to shoot powerfully, to shoot rapidly. - Anonymous Byzantine general, On Strategy (Peri Strategias) c. That would be +P+ by SAAMI or CIP standards. >>>>----)--> Deja vu DVC: In archery we have three goals; to shoot accurately, to shoot powerfully, to shoot rapidly. - Anonymous Byzantine general, On Strategy (Peri Strategias) c. AD 527 - 65 |
