I used to carry a 1911, but have switched to a 9mm. The 9mm is a pleasure to shoot, and I'm just so stinkin' accurate with it.

Who else has had this kind of epiphany?

I have several 1911's in 9mm so I could continue shooting a great gun design in a less expensive round.

The 9mm is a great round. I have been all over the caliber spectrum in handguns for my CCW and recently had finally settled on .40 until I got a Sig .357 barrel and now I love that.

I shoot 9mm when I do IDPA because it is just so accurate and with so little recoil.

I rarely carry my G-27 anymore. My minimum carry is the LCP, but when I want to carry something more it's the G-26 or 9mm PPS.

I shoot 9mm for economy. I shoot better with a 1911 because there is less recoil than a 9mm.

I never cooled to the 9mm, in fact the only reason I have a .40 is that was "given" to me. In my limited opinion, the 9mm is still the best all round auto round for the average joe; relatively inexpensive, easy to shoot, and with the right load - effective.

I have. Smile

I found that I shoot the 9mm a lot better than my previous favorite (.40 S&W), so this year I switched from .40 to 9mm in my HK pistols, bought the German P239 in 9mm from Dan's Ammo, and traded for a 1995-vintage P226. I haven't had a chance to shoot the 226 yet, but the others are incredibly accurate with whatever ammo I put through them (mostly Gold Dot and Ranger 124gr. JHP).

I've been shooting 9mms regularly since 1994 and have not stopped. I really love the round.

There is a guy running around here with the username "9mmepiphany". Wink

Seriously, I've always had and shot a 9mm 226, and to me it's the perfect compact pistol round, so I tend to shoot it on a regular basis regardless of things like insane prices for .45 ACP.

I am a 1911/45 guy & don't find I shoot the 9mm that much better to give up the add'l performance I think the 45acp gives me. In Kalif. we are restricted to 10rds anyway, might as well have to big ones. I am liking my G26 more & more for summer carry & will just assume I will need all 10 of my rounds & maybe the backup mag as well. Wink I reload all my practice ammo, so the cost is just not an issue. It cost me $40-$50/1K more if I buy jacketed bullets. In lead, it's only about $20/1K more.

I got a 9mm barrel for my P-229 and what a pleasure to shoot. I had never really tried 9mm, but now I can't buy enough of the stuff.

Millions of users never cooled to the 9mm in the first place.

Let's face it - 9mm is the perfect all-around handgun round.

..................................................................................................................
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. ∑ Cicero, 42 B.C.

Wow, really? I kind of though it a bit light for hunting & not that accurate in most guns for true target work. So I would say far from perfect handun round. Roll Eyes

Warming up to the 9 mm? It's been my preferred caliber for 20 years!

I never warmed off it. I think a lot of that had to do with that fact that I started owning guns right around the time that the AWB expired so I didnt have to deal with magazine restrictions.

Pre sunset, 7 - .45 or 10 - 9mm. Im picking .45

Post sunset, 7 - .45 or 15 - 9mm. Now there isnt really a clear winner. Both rounds now can take full benefit of there positive attributes.

I use and carry both.

Although the 40, 45, and the 357 Sig may do things a bit better, I have never felt under served by the 9mm. It is usually my first choice for concealed carry due to my preferance to the 225/P6/Glock 19. If you think that you must have a larger caliber for self defense just hit the target two or three more times with the 9mm.

No P210 I take it? Razz

9mm will handle a lot of things up to medium game without restricting capacity or weight.
