Okay what I need is 9mm Luger ammo that can break the shoulders on a black bear or mtn lion and also penetrate the heavy canvas coat of an armed rabid marijuana grower. So is the nature of my work. I shoot a Sig P6...

I am thinking:

Federal Tactical bonded 135 grain +p
Buffalo Bore 147 grain +p

what else?????????

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think I'd wanna leave it up to a 9mm to kill a black bear or a mountain lion. Call me crazy Roll Eyes

Are you the same guy that posted a few days ago asking about what 9mm is best for grizzly?

A 9mm might kill a black bear eventually, but absent a miracle not before he's made you his chew toy.

In black bear county for defense I wouldn't go with less than a 158gr FMJ/JSP .357 out of at least a 4" barrel.

If you have no choice but the 9mm then the heaviest, hottest FMJ you can find... but don't bet on it.

124 grain would be minimum. If your P6 will handle 147grain stuff absolutely reliably then go with that. The 124 and 147 grn hollowpoints will probably work on a mountain lion. 124 grain fmj well placed may work on a bear but don't bet the farm on it. A short 12 ga. loaded with slugs will do nicely. A Mossy or Remmy pump or one of the current import sideXside "coach guns" would work too.
