I do not know if Champion is phasing out any other Federal line of ammunition. I hear it is what stores are replacing Blazer with. I have shot Champion in .22 LR for awhile now but do not recall shooting it in any other caliber. It shoots well in my .22's. The Independence ammo which I have shot years ago was 45 ACP. I remember it being somewhat smokey and the bullet softer and easily scratched when pressed against the shooting bench.
I shot some recently-purchased Independence .38 Special earlier this week in the midst of a mixed-bag of .38s and .357s...fair enough in the accuracy department but easily the smokiest, of anything I've recently fired.
From what I have gathered, it is a replacement for Blazer Brass. Ammo looks good. I bought about 40 boxes of it a few weeks back. Have not shot any yet.
Federal champion is replacing blazer brass..... I saw some boxes of .40 a month ago. I have only shot it in .22lr and it was great.
Independance ammo is ANOTHER story. I think it's remanufactured in the Phillipines or something. That stuff is like shooting black powder it's so smokey, smelly, and dirty..... and it's loaded on the light side of the power spectrum
Last weekend, shot two boxes each of Champion .40 and 9mm without a hiccup. I feel like its a special day when I can find that $9.97 box of 9s. As I recall the .40 goes for $13.47
