Initial new production will be set at 20 million rds/year. Looks like I just picked up a K31 for a reason LOL!

That's good news. However, will it be strictly for domestic use, or for export too?

I imagine there are still plenty of Swiss shooters wanting to feed their rifles as well.

From the same posting on another forum, it stated that Swiss stockpiles have decreased from a high of 930M rounds to 170M, at an increasing rate apparently, hence the trigger to restart production. Sport shooters no doubt being a big reason for that and will hopefully continue to be able to access easy supply. Here in Canada it's still fairly easy to find, and in quantity, if not at such great prices anymore.

Thanks for this news! It's great to read about the resumption of GP11 production. Looking forward to the (hopefully) lower prices when it hits the market.

This is an order of the Swiss DoD. They don't order for export purposes. The annual consumption of GP11 is 16 million rounds per year on ranges supported by the DoD, the balance is used for reserve and troops that still are using the MG51/74.

The commercial twin of the GP11 is the 7.5mm Swiss Match, if you want to optimize score with the K31. It's the same ammo made for export but is not not subsidized but comes cheaper when orderd in lot's per 1000.
