I picked up a box of .357mag 150gr sfhp PMC gold Starfire ammo for my Ruger GP100. out of the 20 rd box I had 2 FTF both appeared to have light primer strikes and one did fire when struck again. I have had about 500 rds through the pipe and these were the first failures of any kind with this revolver.
I dont have any pictures. and the revolver was clean. I am inclined to think it is the ammo but any input would be great. Thanks SF ************************* Browning Buckmark Sig P226 in 9mm Colt NRM 1991 Ruger SS GP100 4" |

Is this that Korean stuff imported through someone in Nevada? If so, (1) I believe it's no longer being brought in, and (2) I put 150 rounds of .45 Auto Rim through a S&W Model 20 but don't recall any problems.

I don't have any experience with the Starfire .357 magnum load but PMC range ammo was my preferred round for many years as it was relatively easy to find at gun stores and gun shows, was inexpensive, and seemed to have decent accuracy and consistency. I haven't chrono'd any up to now, but this thread has sparked my interest in doing that. I don't have any recollection of having any ammo related failures with it. I mostly shot the 115 gr. through a West German P226. Later I picked up some 230 gr. which I shot through a Colt Combat Commander, also with no problems.
I'm down to my last few boxes of the standard PMC range ammo, and shot some just a couple weeks ago. Wish I could find more, especially at the "good ol' days" prices. With regard to the PMC Starfire I definetly recall function and accuracy testing some through the P226, also with good results. I'm fairly certain I shot some in another caliber as well, but I can't recall if it was .45 acp or .40 S&W. I think I still have a box or two "buried down" somewhere, maybe I'll dig it out and give it another go. |

Wow, lately this forum has been kind of like a Ouji board for me. All I have to do is think of a question, then log into Sigforum and voila, someone has just posted the same question!
FWIW - I took a chance and purchased a case of PMC Bronze because of a good price, but not knowing much about the quality. Last night I searched a couple of gun forums and found generally positive comments about PMC, especially the Korean made lots. There were a couple of posts (on the HK forums) indicating problems with domestically made lots, but not giving any specifics. Couple months ago I ran ran thru 200 rounds (Korean made) with no problems at all. ---------------------- P226R/40S&W Equinox P229R/40S&W Equinox P229/.357sig P228 P228 (W German) SP2022/9mm (German) |

I put a few hundred rounds of the PMC .41mag stuff through my S&W657 without any problems. I've never tried their product in any other caliber.

PMC is the most reliable ammo that I've found for my Kel-Tec P-3AT thus far. UMC, Wolf, and WWB have had varying degrees of problems, but I've put 175 rounds of PMC through it without a single hiccup.
I've used their .40 and 9mm in other firearms and had no issue. *********************** Sig P229R, Sig P6, S&W 637, KelTec P-3AT, Rem 870, M4gery, and whatever Uncle Sam hands me |

I have shot a box or two of 9mm and a bunch of it in 223 in my AR as it is the least expensive that I have found. Works fine for range ammo. No failures at all.

I have used a LOT of it in .223 without any problems. Used quite a bit too in .45 and 9mm. The pistol ammo is a little on the dirty side, but other than that, it's good stuff.

I save some of my empty cartridge boxes and dug through some today.
I'd forgotten just how many different PMC calibers I've shot. Turns out that in addition to the PMC 9mm 115gr. I've shot a little 124gr. as well. In addition to the .45 acp 230 gr. mentioned previously I've also shot 357 SIG 124 gr., .44 Rem mag 240 gr., .44 Spl 240 gr., and .223 Rem 55 gr. FMJ-BT. I can't recall a single failure in any of these calibers. Good Stuff! |

I had problems with it years ago.
It seems like they got a batch of bad primers. The rep was actually at my gun store when I brought the cartridges back. He accused my revolvers of having light strikes. Until he saw the dents in the primers. And the cartridges failed to discharge in more then one gun. But the PMC rep refused to replace them. Or exchanges them. But A-O replaced one box for my harassing the rep. So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause. |

PMC Korean made ammo is good stuff. FWIW I spoke to the factory some time ago about their product lines and was amazed to find out that almost all the primers used in Canadian military ammo are made by PMC. Also PMC apparently supplies 5.56mm to the US military.

I've just gone through several cases of PMC .223 in an AR. No issues.

It is the only .223 ammo I shoot. I like the stuff, it is not very expensive and is made with decent quality.
