guess it depends if the LE organization you are working for dictates a need or approves bonded jhp loads (like bonded Winchester Ranger; bonded Remington Golden Sabre; bonded Speer Gold Dot) vs conventiona construction jhp loads; either way find a reputable LE dealer and hopefully they can provide you with 50 round boxes at a discounted price

Federal HST 230 +P. I also have RA45T. I think either could do the job, along with all the quality ammunition mentioned here.

Remington Golden Saber 230 grain JHP.

Not the latest, the sexiest, and probably not the most effective. But it feeds well in most .45 autos, relatively easy to find, and is a pretty consistent performer.

The rounds suggested all are tried and proved to be quite good. Doubt you can go wrong.

Winchesters charts suggest that the "Ranger Bonded / Q4355" bullet is the same as the "Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 bullet".

Wichester indicated in January 2009: "The new Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1, which was chosen by the FBI as their primary service round, is now available in a full line of popular handgun calibers. The Bonded PDX1 is engineered to maximize terminal ballistics, as defined by the demanding FBI test protocol, which simulates real-world threats. The new Winchester Bonded PDX is offered in 9mm, 40 Smith & Wesson, 45 automatic and .38 special."

Both are UNLIKE the SXT in that they appear to be, "Reverse-Taper, Copper Alloy jacket bonded to the 'lead core' via a proproetary process. Tests suggest this greatly improved 'Controld expansion and improves weight retention.

Indications from what I read are that the SXT bullet, around since 1995 or (except for the new Bonded SXT / Ranger) may be phased out.

Winchester info at one of their sites: http://www.winchester.com/news...iew.aspx?storyid=255

More info at: http://www.winchester.com/products/newitems/pdx1.aspx

Law Enforcement Handgun Ballistics - "BONDED" / "T" Series and many others at Winchester site (PDF Format): http://www.winchester.com/lawe...cement%20Catalog.pdf

The specs on BONDED (Velocity, Energy Etc.) appear the same; the articles above, however, seem to deal more with "penetration, expansion and so on.

If they truly are phasing out the "original" SXT and the "Bonded" is the new ticket, I gather the Supreme Elite "Bonded" PDX1 (Ranger Bonded?) will exceed the Rangers we rave about today.

The PDX1, out for 10 months, now available in all popular calibers, seems to have the edge or is at least the equal of the new "Bonded Ranger" when it comes to punching through Wallboard, Steel, Plywood and Auto Glass.

Handgun Bullet Barrier Testing Protocol is quite impressive for "T" and "Bonded" Ranger.

http://www.winchester.com/lawe...cement%20Catalog.pdf

While we (civilians) seem to strive to use the ammo the Law Enforcement Community uses - it appears to me that the "names have been changed to protect the profit margin" and that the new RANGER BONDED and the Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 are twins.

OK .. I'm no expert, I siply read a lot - especially the manufacturers info - so, my 'opinion / observation may be way off base. I've no doubt someone has more info and real-world experience with both these rounds. I hope that info gets shared!
