The Rem.GS is a great round in 185gr or 230gr. WW Ranger, Fed. HST & Speer GD, all good performers if they will be 100% reliable in your pistol
IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! If you could make your own gas, wouldn't you???

I use Federal Premium Personal Defense Ammunition 45 ACP 230 Grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow Point. Runs great through any 220.

230 Golden Saber is a pretty tight fit in my Sig 8 rd mags, and will actually rub up against the SCL in it's upward travel in the mag, and leave a scratch across the round. No problem when using my old zipper back 7 rd mags.
Despite the huge hollowpoint and almost cylinder like shape, I have had excellent results with the Federal 230 HST, but will be trying out Gold Dot next, since it seems to have a more hardball like profile.

Basically my advice would be to pick what you can shoot the best or what feels the best to you. But I have to go with Jerseyshoreshot, after my recent review including several of the above rounds (link: Here) the Feds felt the best for me.

I've always been in favor of the 230gr weight in 45ACP. For years I carried the 230gr Federal hydro-shock but have switched over to the 230gr Speer Gold Dot a couple of years ago.

Pretty much every 230 grain JHP made in the last 15 years will do the job. You just gotta find the one that works flawlessly in your weapon and shoots most accurately.
I've had problems in the past with Hornady XTP's expanding, but YMMV.
