My new carry load for my Glock 20 (10mm) is Double Tap 135gr HP at 1608 fps out of a 4.6" barrel (factory spec). I deem this sufficient for most humans. Smile

Have you chronographed these loads in your gun?

Hodgdon's Web site lists a maximum velocity of 1476 fps with a Nosler 135 gr JHP, with a pressure of 34,500 psi. This is with 9.5 gr of Autocomp powder.

Getting another 130 fps sounds like quite a trick.

Room to grow. I believe that the SAAMI upper pressure limit is 37,500psi.

Have you tried the 230gr WFNGC Hard Cast 10mm from Doubletap? It clocks at only 1120fps, but talk about Rhino killers!! I am using a Lone Wolf 6in barrel in my M20.

Accurate Powders load data shows the 135gr Nos HP loaded with 11.4grns of No.5 clocks at 1503fps with a SAAMI pressure of 36,900psi.

Doesn't that work out to almost 1400 ft.lbs. of torque? Ouch!

I don't know about torque, but according to my calculations, it comes out to 775 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.

Gents,

You might want to see some test data on that load before you get all warm and fuzzy about it.

I carried the Corbon 135 gr. .40 S & W load for several years thinking it was good. It chrono'd 1,400 FPS from my Hi-Power. A LE buddy sent me some test data and I immediately ceased using that load as it was only giving 7" of penetration in FBI test protocals. If the 10mm load is 200 FPS faster and they use a same/similar bullet I suspect more rapid fragmentation and less or similar penetration. Only actual testing will tell.

On the surface this looks good, but I felt the same way about the Cor-Bon load. Testing is needed before I'd trust my life to the load.

Ez,

Nice to see someone is actually testing their ammo. If they are getting an honest 11" penetration for a 135 gr 10mm bullet I'd say go for it...

Parts of Homeland Security are going to 135 Winchester Rangers in their .40's haven't seen the test results yet.
