Has anyone done any testing/grouping with Hornady XTP ammo?? 230's seem to be the weight of choice. Has anyone used 185's or 200's?? good or bad results will be appreciated. Thanks
I've found XTPs to be one of the most accurate bullets across the caliber spectrum. I like the 45/185gr & 200gr XTP in my short OM. They expand enough, penetrate deep & recoil is managable.
IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! If you could make your own gas, wouldn't you???

I loaded up a hundred last month, they are sweet and function in my pistols real well.I like the heavier 230 grain type.I have been stuck on heavy for years but in the 45 it is a oal and bearing surface thing for me.I have a tendency to load on the high side with red dot, seems to burn cleaner. When I loaded the 185 golden saber bullets they would stove pipe occasionally and this is unacceptable to me.

for the last year or so I have been nothing but Honady XTP Taps 230+Ps. I switched to it because it has always been consistant for me box to box, round to round. It also feed reliably in every platform I have ever used it in.
I shot a lot of 230 grain XTP's when they first came out 16 years ago in Hornady/Frontier's factory +P loading. I've always been impressed with their accuracy but I thought they didn't expand well and over penetrated at .45 ACP velocities.
