Hi all,
I'm looking to add a suppressor to my 228. I was going to pick up a Sig threaded barrel from TGS. What is a good suppressor that won't break the bank - if thats possible? Thanks, Tom |

Define "break the bank". Any centerfire caliber suppressor is going to run AT LEAST $500-600, not counting the tax stamp.

Hi Burton,
I was hoping for under $800 for the suppressor. Tom |

Well hell, if you can spend $800 on the can, there are quite a few popular choices. Gemtech Trinity or Tundra, AAC Evo, SWR Trident, etc.
I'll let the experts advise you on which is best. -Rob Sorry - I lost them all during a camping trip last week. A=A |

I'm going to get a SWR Shadow9 unless I meet someone with a 13.5 LH Trident who will let me shoot it. According to what I've seen on youtube, the shadow suppresses very well compared to the competition (1.25" boostered 9mm cans), though I know that the Trident is about as good as it gets. I'm not sure I want to spend the extra $125 on the mount for the Trident, since I don't have any 9mm hosts that wouldn't need boostering.

I have a SWR Shadow9 on a P228, and I am very happy with it. The trident is a little quieter but it is larger also.

Are you planning on using the suppressor on any weapon other than a pistol? If the answer is no then I'd go with an EVO. If the answer is yes then I'd go with an SWR. I'm partial to AAC products because of their great customer service, not to mention their quality products as well. I'm not a member of silencerresearch.com but I believe I read somewhere that the new EVO-9 tested quieter than all but 1 other suppressor when using a Sig as the host weapon. I could be wrong though.

The new EVO is designed to get great results with a glock 19 specifically. With a sig, a trident will be quieter. The new AAC Ti-Rant might be a decibel quieter, but is twice the price of a trident, but it's also lighter and thinner. I have a Trident and a shadow in 9mm, and I have an AAC EVO in 45, and 4 or 5 other cans. I like AAC'S products, but they are pretty notorious for bad service. You'll get screwed until you complain on silencertalk.com, then they'll fix it the next day. But, until you complain in a public forum, it doesn't matter how many times you call. Check out silencertalk, and you'll find lots of old threads with someone saying, "I've been calling for 15 months and they keep telling me one more week." It doesn't matter how long you call, they'll string you along untill it makes them look bad. But, they make fantastic products, and bad service seems to be pretty normal for the industry in general. SWR, on the other hand, will answer the phone, and give you a solution ASAP. And their cans are quiet. And correctly priced. ___________________________________________________________ So the Libyan Fable is told That once an eagle, stricken with a dart, Said, when he saw the fashion of the shaft, "With our own feathers, not by others’ hands, Are we now smitten." -Anton Myrer, "Once an Eagle" |

Try putting a WTS ad in the classifieds. You'll have to come up with a price though. Sorry - I lost them all during a camping trip last week. A=A |
