Does anyone have any experience with this upper in combination with the 9mm Multimount suppressor?
Does this upper require modification to the lower? What kind of mags does this setup take? |

The only modification to the lower would be a mag block, buffer and hammer (unless you buy a ramped bolt). You may have to SBR the lower as well, I'm not sure how long the barrel is on the GemTech upper. The mags are most likely be Colt pattern's mags. You can get other mag blocks that use unmodified Uzi mags.
I did a home built version, not as light as the Talon/Multimount version, but it works perfectly. These really are a lot of fun. |

Jeepdriver, you have some really awesome stuff. How did you do your home built version? Do you mean you put together your own upper and permanently mounted the close quarter suppressor? My biggest concern is getting a reliable setup so we can have fun without dealing with the issues some people have had with 9mm setups. Getting a reliable 9mm setup with a suppressor--that would be even better. Did you have to do a lot of custom work to get it all to work well together? |

It started out as a Superior Arms stripped lower that I SBR'ed. (it's a 2 stamp gun, one for the SBR and one for the suppressor) I bought all RRA parts including the mag block, upper, bolt, charging handle, buffer and hammer. I had the 9mm barrel left over from another 9mm build that I had cut down to 5.5" and threaded to 1/2x36. The free float is a YHM. I Dura Coated it all (including the suppressor) in HK Black to make things match. The suppressor I bought used off of the dealer I work for. It was a trade in (bunch of Colt 635's with suppressors to match) for some new HK's from a local PD. It's an all stainless steel model that weighs a ton, but I can shoot the shit out of it all day w/o over heating it. Plus it was dirt cheap. It even does a good job with 115gr ammo, I still get the crack, but at the source it's not hatefull at all. I had to tinker around with the position of the mag block for a little while, the Superior lower wasn't the best of a fit. Once I had it adjusted I lock tighted it and I've never messed with it again. Now it's as reliable as any other gun. |
