Cleaning the piston chamber of the suppressor-PIA
I wanted to share my experience cleaning the piston chamber of the suppressor. This is where all the deposits are-lead, carbon and assorted build up.
It looks like the inside of an AR where the bolt locks up. So , I use what everyone use uses to clean their AR chambers=a chamber brush. What solvent to use? Everyone has their preferred solvent--here's what I've come up with.
Ed's Red bore cleaner. Ed's Red= 1 part Dexron ATF, 1 part Kerosene, 1 part Mineral Spirits, 1 part Acetone. You can substitute Goo Gone for the Kerosene and Mineral Spirits (2 parts Goo Gone , 1 part Dexron)
This is for cleaning older suppressors that don't dissemble. Cleaning the area where the lugs engage the piston. Can't use an ultrasonic.
