Hi , I really did try a number of searches on SigForum but they turned up " no results"...
I know this has been discussed but is there anyone who can tell me what I need to do if I wanted to take a class with my SBR in Nevada ?? I just want to drive from Idaho to Nevada ( Frontsight)

Thanks, mike

Thanks ! That sounds simple enough that even I could do it.

Sent my yearly 5320.20s off last week for 2017. One for each state I may end up visiting. Hope daddy gives me permission again.

Thanks for reminding me.
My permission expires December 30. Might get it back in time for my Christmas trip that extends to the new year.
Going to be cutting it close.

How long does this typically take to get your permission slip?

Depends on the request

I travel back to my family's residence in another state quite frequently and often times with little notice so for that I do a request covering January 1 to December 31.

Most other travel is fairly infrequent and I generally have some lead time for those requests and do those independently.

Separate form for each state?

I hadn't considered the potential for drive throughs! Great info, thanks!

Don't suppose they ever deny a request, they just want to track?

Out of curiosity, if an SBR is only an SBR in its assembled form (with an barrel less than 16"), could you technically remove the upper and travel around with the lower without restrictions? The lower isn't an SBR at that point...

^Yes, if you remove the features making it an SBR and leave them in your home state you can then travel interstate without the 5320.20.

For example I can leave my 13" SCAR 17 SBR barrel at home and travel freely with the 16" barrel installed. I have only had to do this once when a hunting opportunity came up near term and it took nearly 60 days for the 5320.20 to come back. I wanted to hunt with the SCAR so I swapped in the 16" barrel and went on my way.

I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

So you couldn't just take it apart and re-assemble it when you reached your destination so that you only need approval for the one state?

Unless I missed something when looking at the form, you could put down dates that extend over the next eight years and not worry about notifying ATF you are transporting NFA items interstate until Trump is out of office.

One year though 8 years, come to think of it never having to fill out the stupid request would be much better.

I am on week 6 now waiting for my 2017 permission slip.

Can't remember if I posted this or not.. had all my permission slips denied. Last year they let me get away with putting an address in each state - and then adding "And other locations in Idaho". This year.. no go. Had to re-file.

What's this about applying for the next 8 years? Am I missing some sarcasm?
