Anyone who uses subsonic ammo with the Sig Mosquito, could you please tell me what you think is the best subsonic ammo to use? I know this pistol works better with certain kinds of ammo, and I'd like to buy the best.

When selecting subsonic ammo, am I right in thinking the pistol is going to be more picky than the can?

Not necessarily. Some suppressor companies recommend against using ammo like Aguila SSS (because the barrel twist is too slow, and it could cause a baffle strike) but, it may be the best subsonic ammo for the gun...

I like Aguila and Eleys personally. I strongly dislike remington subsonic.

I always shot Remington Target with my Mosquito & Tac 65.

Was still subsonic (1050FPS), and functioned the gun just fine.

CCI makes a great subsonic .22 load.

I shoot the Remington sunb-sonic in mine.

Works good.
I usually just plink with the Federal bulk pack.

How many come in the boxes you use? The only ones I see listed come in boxes of 50.

The Remington "target" works very well in mine.
I also find that a squirt of dry lubricant on the rounds the night before ensures that there are no feeding problems.

IIRC, I buy them in plastic cases of 100. In my experience, this is high quality ammo.

Believe it or not, Wolf makes some really good 22 ammo.

We shot up loads of it in my uncle's suppressed P22 last summer and it was good stuff.

The CCI subsonic loads were also nice.

I've always turned to CCI 22 ammo when i had a picky pistol that didn't like some ammo.

I shoot federal bulk ammo and it sounds about the same as remington subs through my warlock and through my outback 2. The stuff doesnt go supersonic out of a pistol anyway.

I shoot CCI Green Tag in my Mosquito with Outback II. This is the most reliable setup I have had, which isn't the case with other ammo. Green Tag is more expensive, but better quality with no issues. I would like to try CCI SS, but it isn't readily available locally.

I saw the 100 rd plastic boxes at Academy Sports today for $15.99. I remember that because it was the same exact prices as the 550 count bulk boxes of Winchester or Remington.

++1

Had gr8 experience with all types of equipment using CCI sub-sonic. Excellent feed, extraction, suppression, etc. My personal favorite all 'round!

You don't need SS ammo for those short barrels. Quit buying the expensive subs and shoot the bulk ammo. Big Grin They all sound the same out of my P22/ AAC Pilot combo. Now a rifle is a different thing.

Don't have a device to measure sound, but I've noticed a difference running bulk ammo through my skeeter compared to CCI SS. Some of it will go supersonic, and some doesn't. That's why I stick with CCI SS through my rig. My gun doesn't like Rem SS.

I've also had good luck running the AutoMatch bulkpack through the skeeter with the Outback II.

The best Ive found is the Remington Subsonic rounds. As for decibel reduction my can (YHM) shows a 40 dB reduction with those rounds. Decently accurate as well.

In my humbly experience ( assisted by a chrony ) quite _all_ brands of .22 lr. do _not_ reach sonic speed out of short pistol barrels.

The subs are quieter even though regular rounds are subsonic too. Its just the reduced powder charge.
