The conversion kits are different from the P228/229 and P229R kits. I imagine that the barrels are the same, the difference has to do with the slide shape WRT the different sized dust covers between the pistols. There is a post around here that shows a P229R kit on a non-rail and there is open space in front of the shortened dust cover on the non-railed pistols. So you could either buy the P228/9 non-rail kit and separate threaded barrel, or have your kit threaded by some of the companies that do that kit of work. I had a P220 kits threaded by Tornado Technology and I hear High Desert Dog does similar work. T/T took about 2 months to do for me. I'm sure there are a number of places to do it. http://www.tornado-technologies.com/http://www.hi-desertdog.com/index.php

Thanks for the info RHINOWSO. So, is there a chance that the threaded barrel (available separately from SIG) would not work with the non railed kit? I would think it would easier to buy the non rail kit, and the threaded barrel separately, rather than get into custom work. (although I'd end up with a non threaded barrel that I wouldn't need) Edited to clarify...

I can think of no reason why it wouldn't, but have nothing to base that on. If it doesn't work, you could probably sell the barrel for minimal loss, however. Good luck.

And although you might get the run around, it might be worth calling SIG and asking... I wouldn't hedge my bets on it, but just another avenue...
