Looking for a .308 can that will work well on a Tikka T3 tactical or a Remington 700. Looking at models made by Gemtech, SWR, and YHM.

I'm not sure what I should expect to pay, and what the differences are. I understand there are also differences in tonality.

If you own one, please tell me which one you like, and why you like it. Is it helpful to get a fast attach model?

Do any of the .308 cans work on other calibers, such as 5.56, or that just not a good idea?

Alll the can's you are looking at are good cans.

I have shot the GemTech & SWR on boly guns. Both are pretty much the same in sound reduction on bolt guns.

I have only shot the Surefire on an AR10. It's a scarry quiet can on a semi auto. And with the Sure Fire mounting system it is a repetable POI change every time it's mounted. (4 MOA drop) The Surefire also really tightens up the groups on that gun.

The fast attach is up to you. The YHM, SureFire & GemTech systems all work very well. And with the 308 can you can use it one your 556 guns as well with additional adaptors in the correct thread pitch.

What approximate price range should I expect? Do any dealers discount cans of this size?

I like my Gemtech HVT, but wait to get it was long from Gemtech + time in transit to dealer, then wait on my F4.

If I recall from when I shopped for mine a couple years back you're looking at 700+ for the can plus the 200 for stamp.

When I've put it on an AR, it works as well as any other .223 can I've seen (various AACs, gemtechs), just it's heavier.

There really isn't much competition on price for these, because even if you find a stunning deal out of state on a F3 you're still going to be paying the receiving dealer for the transfer fee.

I wanted a can good with subsonic and supersonic suppression in 30 caliber
able to be used on 308 and 300 whisper

I settled on AAC's Cyclone. It's done well.
